This Solace Select is designed with an extended top bevel to create a larger body that drives a smaller top creating the unique Solace Select sound. The body is also Wedge Shaped for additional comfort. This one has gorgeous ‘Mare’s Tail’ Brazilian Rosewood and a premium Carpathian Spruce top tied together with gorgeous Macassar Ebony. A rare preowned Tom Doerr guitar.
Tom Doerr is creating modern fingerstyle guitars of the highest caliber. The Mare's Tail Brazilian and silky Carpathian top are superb examples of great tonewoods. The voice is utterly gorgeous, deep, full bass, crisp trebles with weight to them, balance and clarity to spare. The Wedge Body and top Bevel make this extremely easy to hold and I think the Solace Select design is one that will appeal to many players seeking comfort without comprimising on tone one bit... 
This reminds me a lot of my old Ryan Nightingale. It has a big sound, but an extremely balanced frequency response for such a big guitar. Maybe it's because the top is the size of a Grand Concert while the body has the depth and size of a jumbo. I've only seen wood like this on Traugott guitars. | Scale Length | 25.4 in |
