Home / Shop / 1956 Gibson SJ Southern Jumbo Mahogany/Spruce
We are fortunate to have found one of the 586 SJs made by Gibson in the year 1956. This one comes to us from a local fellow who inherited it from a sickly boy he befriended and taught guitar back in the 1950s. It has primarily been stored detuned for years, brought out from time to time when visitors would use it to play a few tunes. It appears to be all-original with no repairs other than our reseating the bridge. It even has the original chipboard case in perfect condition. The one has that amazing vintage Gibson tone, big warm and woody bass and distinctive chime that only a mahogany Gibson seems to produce. This is the real deal found locally, what a treat.
