Here we have a Hoffman Piccolo Terz guitar. A Terz is a small body, short scale(22.5″) guitar that is tuned up a 3rd to G. They were designed during the time of Guitar Orchestras, which like a string ensemble, incorporated various sized guitars. Being high tuned this guitar offers up a wonderful chimey sound with a lot of drive and punch. It's a great color to add to a group or to your solo shows. Tony McManus recorded a Hoffman Terz on his Maker’s Mark: The Dream Guitars Sessions CD from 2009. It’s a magical voice.
I love to have a variety of voices in my personal guitar collection and a Terz is very unique and magical sounding. Being tuned to G or A, depending on the strings you use, produces a wonderful bell-like tone. Hit hard it's a great rock/pop sound and this Hoffman Piccolo is versatile enough for any style you wish. 
Playing this guitar is like capoing the third fret of a standard guitar but having lots more room to move up the neck. The tone is sweet and clear and would add a nice texture to any recording.
