This 2006 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937, is a wonderful recreation of it’s esteemed 1937 namesake, the pre-war Martin D-18. Vintage Martin D-18s from the prewar era are coveted for their open and powerful voice. This Authentic is built to those exacting specs. This particular Martin D-18 Authentic has a wide grain Adirondack top that has amazing bass response and volume. This one has been outfitted with a Baggs M1 Active pickup, very handy for gigs in the modern world, but also easily removable. This one has the wider modern fingerboard dimension of 1 3/4″ nut and 2 1/4″ saddle and a chunky soft V neck carve. A real player’s delight!
This is a big, beautiful sounding Martin Dread. The unmistakable D-18 character really captures the pre-war zest. I love the chunkier neck on this one and the wider spacing allows me to play with fingers or flatpick and have plenty of wiggle room. The Baggs pickup sounds great and is included here for free. 
This guitar has a great feel and great tone. I think it is perfect for either flatpicking or fingerpicking. You can't go wrong with one of Martin's recreations. This one was patterned after a specific 1937 D-18 with a wider nut and wider string spacing (Martin says 2 5/16") and a rounder, chunkier neck that feels awesome. It also features a fossil ivory nut and saddle, ebony bridge pins, 30's style hardshell case (brown vinyl covering).
