Here we have a Martin OM-42 Quilted Maple 2 number 6 of 30. This is the first of its kind that we have seen from Martin, the wood choice truly is unique and stunning. The Quilted Maple used on this guitar is nothing short of fantastic, and Martin and co. took it one step further by staining the wood, bringing forth a truly three dimensional effect. The maple is paired with a tight grained Italian Spruce top. This OM took us all by surprise in the tone department, it is crystal clear and responsive, favoring the fundamental with only a hint of warm overtones. This guitar is a rare collectors piece that not only looks stunning but sounds just the same.
What a unique guitar, we don't often see Maple used as a back and side wood and it's hard to understand why. This thing is open and raring to make music. This is another great example of why Martin guitars have stood the test of time. 
Surprisingly full and responsive, this is one of my favorite OM size Martins. It's perfect for all styles of playing and the quilting in the maple is unlike any I've seen. You could spend a lot of time looking into this grain with its 3-D effects. | Scale Length | 25.4000 in |
