Lance McCollum builds instruments that are aesthetically beautiful and tonally superb. His guitars are owned by Andy McKee, Lawrence Juber and many other top players. This GA is a great example with it’s striking set of flamey Koa and Abalone top trim that surrounds a gorgeous Red Cedar top braced to bring out Lance’s etherial tone. The Cedar is a great choice with Koa adding warmth to the crispness of the back & sides. This is a very responsive guitar that produces a lot of volume even with a light touch, it also strums very well in addition to it’s exquisite fingerstyle voice. This quality of Koa is getting very rare these days.
Here we have a wonderful GA guitar from Lance. I love the combinations of wood, you get the power and brilliance of Koa, just slightly tamed by the creamy Cedar top. The result is a full tone with nice shimmer. The woods and trim make it a guitar to behold
