With Lance McCollum passing we have decided to donate 50% of the proceeds from this guitar to Lance’s family. This guitar is extraordinary, Lance originally made it for himself and Tony McManus recorded it on his new Maker’s Mark CD. Lance McCollum pulled out all the stops on this beautiful GA. To start with there is a set of most dramatic Brazilian Rosewood with brick red color, then there is the rare bearclaw Italian Spruce top, Snakewood bindings everywhere with green purfling, Snakewood Headplate, Abalone top trim, Abalone Butt Wedge, Interwoven Rosette, Brazilian Bridge and a K&K pickup. But the audio clip is the most impressive part of this one.
Lance had intentions of keeping this one for himself but we pursuaded him to send it to us. The beauty of this instrument is only matched by the tone which is magical. Brazilian and Italian is a great combination for power, clarity and brilliance and makes this extremely versatile. Strum it and you'd swear it's a Dread but go fingerstyle and you get shimmer, nuance and clarity to spare. The trebles really sing out and the bass is glorious.
