Brand spankin’ new but already explosively loud and rich, this 2016 SJ from Michael Keller is the new kid on the block at DG, and everyone wants to be his friend. One of our Dream Series guitars, this “Rose“ was made with one of Paul’s personal sets of Brazilian Rosewood (and what a set it is, chocolate-dark and straight-grained) and an Adirondack Spruce top–a deadly combination in Keller’s SJ body. With the added soundport, all the Brazilian richness is broadcasted straight to the player’s ear, while the balanced and crisp trebles help round out the guitar’s voice, itself even and articulate.
The setup is glass-smooth and low for fingerstylists, and this Keller SJ handles D tunings like a champ, and as it continues to open up it’s going to sound even better (if you could believe it)!
This firecracker turned into a mortar shell in just a few days--I'm excited to continue to listen to it as it opens up further! The voice is huge and balanced, with a quick response that's delightful for Celtic fingerstyle arrangements. I'm really glad to see this set of Brazilian put to such fine use; Michael's one of my favorite builders. And check out that Abalone! We're talking about some seriously deep-blue shell in the trim and around the soundhole. 
Another in the fabulous "Dream Series" built with woods hand-picked by Paul Heumiller and constructed by one of the top luthiers in the country. This one is not only gorgeous, but has a clarity that you don't often hear in an acoustic. Definitely a keeper. | Scale Length | 25.4000 in |
