The New World model from Stefan Sobell is his nod to the great small body American guitars of the past. But rest assured it’s all Sobell, no Gibson or Martin knockoff here, but it does have some serious projection. The shape is a smaller version of his Model 1 guitar made famous by guitarist Martin Simpson, and the body is shallower, varying from just below to just above 4″. This gives the New World a more intimate voice but it retains the wonderful Sobell treble strings and their seemingly endless sustain. The Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce body give it character and make this a wonderful recording guitar.
Most players have experienced a Sobell at some point in the recordings of many great artists such as Martin Simpson and Robin Bullock. Even our own Al Petteway has a Sobell Cittern that he uses on sessions. The New World is the first all new design from Stefan in years and it's a beauty. This design is bright and clear with awesome articulation. Players who record or simply prefer the clarity of a small body guitar will really love this one. A side note is how comfortable this is to hold. This one is like new, just months old
