Ervin Somogyi somehow creates instruments that are magical. They possess intangible qualities that make them more than instruments, they are musical partners that inspire you to find your voice. This OMC is crafted from lovely quartersawn Brazilian and European Spruce with stunning details. The bass is big and open and the trebles have that piano quality to them, great separation and clarity. This one also has several unique features including a bordered fingerboard and linear lines inlay, a ribbon perfling and laminated and scalloped nut. Somogyis are something all together different and extremely special.
There is something about playing a Somogyi that is captivating. You are drawn away to a place where only music exists. They play effortlessly and this one even more so with it's 25" scale. Every note begins with Ervin's unique attack and fills the air with sweet warmth until they gently decay. The bass response on all Somogyis is big and round. He makes his OMs a little deeper so they have more bottom than most. This guitar has two unique aesthetic features, the nut is laminated so it has gold and green stripes in the center and their is a lovely ribbon treatment in the top purfling. The Brazilian on this guitar has beautiful dark grain with a few sections with an almost golden hue. A superb guitar by a superb builder.
