His obsessive attention to detail, impeccable craftsmanship, and singular voice is clearly evident in this slope shoulder that was built for award winning guitarist Martin Simpson of England. The Madagascar rosewood back and sides are stunning, and they pair beautifully with an Alpine Spruce top to produce a tone that is both confident and velvety. Dream Guitars owner Paul Heumiller worked with Martin and Bill when this guitar was built and remembers it fondly. “Martin and I met Bill Tippin in the late 1990s and Martin flipped over Bill’s guitars and immediately ordered this DST and a 000.” – Paul Heumiller
I was traveling and teaching with Martin Simpson when he ordered this guitar as well as a 000 from Bill Tippin. So I've known this guitar since it was born. We selected the best woods for Martin and it shows in the beauty and tone. This is a killer Dread for both flatpicking or fingerpicking and would cost over $10k new today. The wider spacing allows for both. So here's a wonderful Tippin with great provenance.
