Bill Tippin’s Staccato is his modern take on the traditional Parlor or 0 sized guitar. This is the perfect body style for the player seeking a comfortable, easy playing guitar but who does not wish to sacrifice tone. Like every Tippin; the Staccato has a big voice and strong projection as well as depth and complexity. We custom ordered this beautiful guitar with very rare Cuban Mahogany(Swietenia mahogani) which is the densest Mahogany and has a fine, rich texture. It’s density gives it much more sustain and a more complex tone than Honduran Mahogany. Bill’s topped it with rare Salmon Spruce, which was submerged for many years and has more silking than you can imagine. Silking, or medullary rays, are proof of a wood being perfectly quarter sawn, and are a show of tensil strength. So more silking equals a better top. We specified a unique multiscale on this lovely Tippin guitar combining a short 24.9″ scale for the trebles and a 25.5″ on the bass. This really works and gives the player the sweet, fat and easy to play trebles of an old short scale Gibson, but with bass that holds up with power and can easily be tuned to D or even C. This guitar also debuts Bill’s first soundport and his design is elegant as you would expect with tapered edges revealing an African Blackwood lining inside. This is the kind of guitar you’ll covet and not want to let anyone else play, keep it close by and grab it all day long. This is Bill Tippin at the top of his game…
