Here we have the first Veillette Gryphon in Joe’s new non-cutaway body shape. Over the years Joe Veillette has worked for a long list of star clients which include the likes of Dave Matthews, Jorma Kaukonen, David Lindley, Kaki King, Ani DiFranco and many others. Often his work included designing unique instruments to fit the needs of pro musicians. His newest design is this, the Gryphon High Tuned 12 string guitar. In short the Gryphon is a 18.5″ scale 12 string guitar tuned up to high D, just below the octave of normal guitar tuning. This gives the Gryphon a mandolin-like sound, though much more colorful and musical, yet it can be played like a regular guitar. Our first reaction was utter amazement at the lush tone and we can see this being extremely useful in many settings from stage to recording. Here is the first Gryphon non-cutaway from Joe Veillette. This new shape offers a more subdued rounded shoulder and still grants easy access up to 14th fret. This one has gorgeous Flamed Maple and a clear, brilliant voice. The Gryphon design offers a wonderous mandolin type of sound only much more complex and musical, with wonderful sustain and it can easily be played by any guitarist. It's a clever new design from Joe Veillette who has worked with more star players than most luthiers, so he knows what really works for players. We were floored by the beautiful voice and how easily it fits in with guitar, vocals, anything. This is a new color for your musical palette and one everyone in the audience will adore. The constructon is perfect and the DTAR 18 volt pickup sound incredible. It is very exciting for us to introduce the Veilette Gryphon High 12 String.
