The Ribbecke Halfling concepts combines a Flattop design with that of an Archtop. The bass side of the soundboard is flat while the treble side is arched. From the Ribbecke website “The Halflings� are capable of large full fundamental bass response with the ability to hear and distinguish all the notes of a complex chord when ringing together.” Just a few minutes playing this Ribbecke guitar and you can sense how unique the design is. The bass is much more responsive than an archtop, yet the trebles have the clarity and punch archtop players will love.
I've known Tom for years and he is one of the best in the business. His Hafling design is well thought out and really offers something different for players who love archtops but long for a bit more bass. This particular one has a full voice and lots of punch. You can drive it hard or play it smooth. It also sounds great plugged in or acoustic. 
This guitar is awesome for recording. It's tone is clear and crisp and it cuts through. It has the presence of an archtop but with a sweeter tone. Maybe the perfect all around guitar for solo fingerstyle or for flatpicking with a group. I love it. | Scale Length | 25.4000 in |
