Tony Rice is arguably the finest bluegrass picker the world has seen and for him to put his name on a guitar you know it’s special. The Tony Rice model from Santa Cruz Guitars is a powerhouse dreadnought design and this one really projects. The bass is huge and the trebles shoot across the room. The tone has a lot of character as well and like Tony it can handle multiple genres of music.
"Tony's legendary 1930s D-28, previously owned by Clarence White, served as the model for an instrument design that combines the bass presence of the old D-28 with more substantial midrange and treble response, which is necessary for Tony's modern lead work"(Santa Cruz). This Tony Rice guitar from 1993 is wide open and mature sounding. The years of play time have improved this guitar, making it very lively and responsive. If you are after a Dread that has the gusto this one is for you.
