And now for something completely different. We’ve got an incredible Giant Cittern from the one and only Stefan Sobell, one of the original pioneers in modern Cittern and Bouzouki innovation for Irish and folk music. This fearsome piece was commissioned by Joseph Sobol in 1992, at the time one of only six that Stefan had ever built to these dimensions. Since then, this Cittern was also owned by Henry Kaiser for a time, and we’ve got it now! Decked out with Indian Rosewood back and sides and a European Spruce top and 12 strings—yep. You can rig this one a variety of ways; we’ve got it set up sort of as as 12-string guitar in CGCGCD, and it fills the entire room at first pluck! It also takes to DADGAD, guitar Standard—the sky’s the limit with our Sobell Giant Ciittern in your hands.

This one is from my private collection and it’s a powerhouse! If you are looking for something new and fun to add to your world this is it. Guitar players can easily play the six course cittern. Since it is strung just like a 12 string guitar. I like it in DADGAD, but you can tune it absolutely anywhere and just go. Stefan Sobell is no longer making mandolins so this one is also rare and collectible. 
I have a four-course and a five-course Sobell at home, but this is indeed a different animal. I tuned it in CGCGCD for the sample and it seems to like that tension. It also works well in DADGAD. Henry Kaiser says he tuned it in Standard and drop D, so it's pretty versatile.
