Veillette Gryphon High 12 Short Scale, High Tuned 12 Flamed Maple, Non-Cutaway
Here we have the first Veillette Gryphon in Joe’s new non-cutaway body shape. Over the years Joe Veillette has worked for a long list of star clients which include the likes of Dave Matthews, Jorma Kaukonen, David Lindley, Kaki King, Ani DiFranco and many others. Often his work included designing unique instruments to fit the needs of pro musicians. His newest design is this, the Gryphon High Tuned 12 string guitar. In short the Gryphon is a 18.5″ scale 12 string guitar tuned up to high D, just below the octave of normal guitar tuning. This gives the Gryphon a mandolin-like sound, though much more colorful and musical, yet it can be played like a regular guitar. Our first reaction was utter amazement at the lush tone and we can see this being extremely useful in many settings from stage to recording. 1910 Martin 000-28 4th Made, Ever! Brazilian/Adirondack
4th ever made. This is a very rare and historic Martin 000-28. It is the 4th one ever made and the only one made in the year 1910. This beautifully preserved instrument is in superb condition and comes with a written evaluation by master luthier John Greven who is simply one of the most knowledgeable Martin repairmen in the world. This guitar is X-braced with shallow scalloping and has had steel strings for decades. It has a thunderous voice with huge, piano-like bass notes and soaring trebles. It is one of the most satisfying guitars you will ever play. Action and setup is superb. It also has many historically important details. For instance, it is the first 000-28 to have the 25.4″ scale and among the first to have a solid peghead. This is one for the history books but it can be played every day.

Bills G2 Custom Brazilian/German Side Soundport
From Tom Bills’ Website “With deep roots in the past the G2 steel string boldly journeys into the future… the side soundport leaves the asymmetrical top unimpeded for maximum energy efficiency.” This is a gorgeous instrument that is impeccably crafted throughout. You need only peer in the soundhole to see bracing that is artwork. The idea of omitting the soundhole makes for great flexibility in bracing ideas and gives this Bills G2 a uniquely powerful voice. The player gets all the great tone and this would work great on stage. This one is top of the line all the way featuring premium Brazilian Rosewood, European Spruce and a stunning wooden Falling Leaf inlay pattern.

Beneteau Dream Series #5 Nick Lucas L-00 Brazilian/Adirondack
This is the last of our Limited Edition Nick Lucas model Dream Series from Marc Beneteau and it’s a good one. The Gibson Nick Lucas design is famous for having that wonderful L-00 sound but with greater bass response and midrange growl thanks to the added body depth. Marc Beneteau’s version is a wonderful blend of the old Gibson design along with Marc’s wonderful clarity and makes our Dream Series Beneteau guitars even more versatile than their predecessors. This one features a wonderful set of old Brazilian Rosewood and an Adirondack top that combine for rich power. The tobacco burst fits beautifully with the hues in the back and sides and the bound fingerboard and headstock complete the package. This was an extremely popular Dream Series and this last one will send it off in style.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting in the audience and listening to Scott Ainslie perform on his Froggy Bottom and it was shear joy. It filled the hall with thunderous bass and shimmering treble strings. This beautiful Froggy Bottom G Deluxe has the same power. This Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce Lakewood M-54 is a versatile OM guitar that is outfitted with a dual source B-Band pickup system. Williams Tui Whitebait Kauri/Swiss Spruce RARE TONEWOOD
Here we have a like-new Laurie Williams Tui model crafted from his rare Ancient Kauri wood in the Whitebait Premium figure (see below text about this wood). The term ‘Whitebait’ refers to the wonderous figure of the Ancient Kauri which appears like a school of Whitebait fish swimming beneath the water. It’s sumptuous golden color is unique in the world of tonewoods. The top is Swiss Spruce with abundant medullary rays that adds brilliant shimmer to the powerful voice of the Tui body shape. The Rosette is exquisitely crafted from Abalone in a pattern of the indigenous Maori people native to New Zealand and it blends with the thin abalone that borders the top, fingerboard and headstock for an elegant yet subdued gilding.

McKnight Highlander OM Cuban Mahogany/Sitka
Here we have a Cuban Mahogany Sunburst OM from Tim McNight guitars. Tim’s philosophy is to blend tradition with innovation and this guitar shows that. Cuban Mahogany is terrific and not well known tonewood. It is the densest Mahogany and therefore has a voice full of the Mahogany power and clarity but with a bit of the focus found more typically in Rosewood guitars. So it’s a unique voice. Paired here with Sitka it gives this guitar a rich tone with great balance and punch. The custom soundport, spalted rosette, Madagascar Rosewood Bridge and deep sunburst add distinctive style.

Our Dream Series from Brian Applegate has been extremely popular. It’s little wonder since Brian puts together the finest Brazilian Rosewood and custom appointments including extraordinary inlays on the fingerboard and headstock, a custom twisted rosette, abalone top trim, headstock trim and backstrip. And this particular guitar features his new armrest bevel and soundport. On top of all that this one sports insanely figured Sapelle for the bindings, armrest and rosette. This gorgeous National Model D Western was custom ordered by a prominent person in the music instrument industry. It features gorgeous Burled Walnut laminate for the back and sides along with highly figured Flamed Maple laminate for the top. Full Rope style bindings, a Pearloid headplated and custom engraved Chrome Cone Cover and tailpiece make this a real eye catching guitar. The Model D utilizes a spider cone setup for a twangy Dobroesque voice that is great for both slide work and fingerstyle blues and the like.
