Tom Doerr is one of the rising stars in the custom guitar world. He’s made his name completely with his tone which is magical. There’s a bit of Ryan and Traugott to the voice but also a lot of Tom Doerr. What we like about Tom is he’s very grounded and simply searching for ultimate tone and playability. He also has a philosophy of keeping his prices within reach of players which is why you get so much for your money. This Solace Select is designed with an extended top bevel to create a larger body that drives a smaller top creating the unique Solace Select sound. The body is also Wedge Shaped for additional comfort. This one has gorgeous ‘Mare’s Tail’ Brazilian Rosewood and a premium Carpathian Spruce top tied together with gorgeous Macassar Ebony. A rare preowned Tom Doerr guitar.

This D-45 Marquis is the Indian Rosewood version of the D-45 Golden Era Dreadnought styled after the 1937 D-45. It features an Adirondack spruce top with scalloped Adirondack braces, forward shifted X, select East Indian rosewood back & sides (with linen reinforcing strips), ivoroid binding, highly colored abalone trim around back, sides & top – including fingerboard extension, abalone rosette, old style 45 back strip, modified V-shape neck (25.4″ scale, 1 3/4″ nut, 2 5/16″ string spacing at bridge), bound ebony fretboard with Golden Era 45-style snowflake inlays & tortoise side dots, tapered & squared bound headstock with C.F.Martin block letter inlay, fossil ivory nut & long saddle, fossil ivory bridge & endpins with black pearl dots, vintage toner finish, tortoise pickguard, Waverly gold vintage style gears, inside label signed by C.F.Martin I V. Gary Zimnicki has hand crafted well over 200 instruments and that is something to be very proud of. Very few luthiers ever reach that mark. But it’s clear that Gary loves his craft and that he knows how to build for tone and beauty in equal parts. This 14 Fret cutaway is artistic and elegant, from the character of the headstock to the square shouldered cutaway to the lovely rose fret markers it’s sophisticated and breathtaking. Then there is the dazzling Brazilian Rosewood with it’s dramatic figure and deep, rich color. The Adirondack Red Spruce top is tight and evenly grained. These two woods combine in classic form to create a rich and satisfying tone that seems capable of most anything you wish to play. The guitar is completed by it’s custom Koa Rosette with double, offset Abalone rings. Top notch all the way.
