1996 Martin D-45CFMB 200th Anniversary, 2 of 91 Brazilian/Sitka
This guitar is #2 of the 91 made for the 200th anniversary of Christian Frederich Martin Sr.’s birth in 1796. It has pre-ban Brazilian rosewood for its sides, back and peg head and a fossil ivory saddle and bridge pins. The vintage toner, forward shifted scalloped bracing and modified “V” shaped neck give it a distinctive vintage look, feel and sound. There are gorgeous 45 style appointments including abalone trim not just on the fingerboard but on the neck following the fingerboard, headstock and heel. This guitar has been kept in excellent condition by its single owner. The Brazilian set is beautiful and dark with lovely figure as well. This is a truly collectible Martin D-45, particularly having serial #2.

2004 Hoffman Jumbo Western Big Leaf Maple /Sitka
From Charles Hoffman: For some years now I have been thinking about building a Jumbo shaped guitar, but have not been enamored of the larger jumbos like the Gibson J-200. So, using an old Gibson J-185 as my guide I have designed this guitar. The shape is quite similar but the body is quite a bit thinner, front to back. This seems to give the round warm sound of a wide soundboard without any tendency to boominess or “thump.” The maple that I use is western Big Leaf maple which is a softer lighter wood than the hard or sugar eastern maple that was used for so many years by Gibson and guild. I think that the Big Leaf has a less strident tone and much prefer it. We have to agree with Charlie, this guitar is loud and clear and far more balance than the average Jumbo. The woods here are gorgeous to boot…

2002 Martin D-28CW Clarence White – 80 of 150 Indian/Adirondack
This guitar is a faithful recreation of Clarence White’s D-28 that Tony Rice now owns. It has a larger soundhole, no tongue brace, and even the fingerboard is slightly cantilevered over the soundhole. The label is signed By C. F. Martin IV & Michelle White Bledsoe, Numbered in Sequence w/ Total (Limited to 150). The wide grained Adirondack top on this particular CW makes this one a cannon, its very strong and clear.

2006 Kraut OM African Wenge/Bearclaw Sitka
Ray Kraut built this beautiful OM under apprenticeship to Ervin Somogyi. He’s been working with Ervin for several years now and blending Ervin’s amazing voicing and stylistic details with his own resulting in fantastic instruments with tons of style. This OM features a body of African Wenge and it has power and bass response far beyond it’s size. The trebles are full and vibrant making this a very versatile instrument that likes the pick as well as fingers. The pickup system is the amazing Trance Audio Amulet stereo unit with preamp and a Sunrise pickup as well. So you can be assured of the best tone possible on stage.

2006 Tippin Baritone Brazilian/German
A few years back I suggested to Bill Tippin that he would make an amazing Baritone guitar because of his wonderful clarity, power and rich tone. This prototype was the beginning and now Bill is regularly making wonderful Baritone guitars. This one features a relatively short 27″ scale which makes it ideal for C or B tunings depending on the string gauges employed and it also makes for a very easy reach. Guitarist seeking the lower voice will love this. It was made for the Newport Guitar Festival in 2006 and features beautiful Brazilian Rosewood coupled with a stunning German top. Custom purflings, bindings and fret markers dress it in the elegance of natural wood appointments.

2005 Traphagen BRC Brazilian/Red Cedar
We’ll let the builder Dake Traphagen tell you about this beauty: “This is the first of a total of ten that were made for this series. The next Anniversary series will be my 50th year of building, 2020, if I make it that long. The top is 150 year old cedar, the back and sides came from a salvaged beam that yielded only three sets and the beam was dated 1727!! Very cool, the neck wood came from another salvaged beam of Spanish cedar that was over 100 years old. The fret board is at least 25 years old. The finish is French Polish.” – Dake.

John Greven is one of the masters at creating a vintage sound in a new instrument. This 00 recalls the Martin 00’s of the 1930’s. The sunburst is gorgeous and the sound open and responsive.

2001 Martin HD-28V Custom Indian/Sitka
This has been a very popular model for Martin. The vintage styling and forward-shifted scalloped braces make it sound like an older guitar and the vintage toner with the herringbone trim give it those vintage looks. This one was ordered from the custom shop with a wider string spacing at 2 1/4″ and a wider nut width at 1 3/4 in. It’s perfect for fingerstyle or flatpicking.

2001 Martin HD-28KM 84 of 252 Koa, flamed/Engelmann
The forward-shifted scalloped top braces, diamond neck volute, and tapered headstock enhance the vintage character of the Keb Mo Signature guitar. A low profile neck with wide ebony fingerboard, 1 3/4” inches at the nut, and jumbo frets makes it perfect for fingerstyle or flatpicking. Both the nut and compensated saddle are crafted from genuine bone. Keb’ Mo’s signature is inlaid between the 19th and 20th frets and the label is personally signed by Keb’ Mo’ and Martin Chairman and CEO, C. F. Martin IV. This is a beautifully made guitar from Charles Hoffman. It has the classic sound of an old 00-18, but the looks and playability of a much finer instrument. World famous inlay artist, Harvey Leach was commissioned to adorn the fingerboard with Christian symbols inlaid in Silver and Gold, making this a one-of-a-kind find.

19921993 Buscarino Telstar Basswood/None
John Buscarino is a premier Luthier well known for creating some of the very finest archtops, electrics and nylon strings. Here we have a custom Telestar from 1992/3 and man is it a cool guitar. It features a satin Maple neck with a rosewood board on a slim, solid Tele style body and pair of active EMG pickups that really sound amazing. It was easy for us to get Robben Ford like tones out of this guitar, the midrange is strong and it’s easy to put just on the verge of feedback for a very vocal sort of tone. It plays like a dream and has been kept in perfect condition by it’s only owner.
1997 Taylor Guitars 810 Limited Indian/Sitka
Here is a mature, 10 year old, Taylor 810 Limited. Its dreadnought body puts forth a strong, clear sound with great projection. This guitar is great for strumming and would be a good fit for the singer-songwriter. It’s in good shape, just normal play wear and the spruce top has a lovely patina to it. Here’s an earlier 810 for you Taylor fans.

2003 Langejans R-12 Twelve String Bearclaw/Rosewood
We see very few custom made 12 strings from independent luthiers, so we are happy to have this one for you. It is crafted by Del Langejans from Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce and has a rosewood neck as well for added sustain and warmth. This is a very easy to play 12 string, it incorporates a zero fret that allows for low action and light tension. The cutaway grants access to the dusty end and it has lovely abalone top trim, a Baggs Duet pickup system with onboard controls and gold tuners. One beautiful 12 strings that you’ll enjoy playing every day.

2007 Beneteau M Ebony/Bearclaw Sitka
We hand picked this guitar at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival. The voice of the slightly larger M sized body is big and bold. From the Beneteau Website: “The best way to describe my “M” model is to say that it is the same shape as my OM but enlarged to a full 16″ width giving it an expanded bass response. Like the Mini Jumbo and Concert Standard, this model offers another choice in a full sized guitar suitable for fingerstyle playing or full strumming.” Marc Beneteau has been working with us for a number of years now and our customers who’ve bought his instruments just love them. He somehow achieve amazing clarity and balance without lacking any power and punch. The Ebony & Spruce body here make a real impression both when you play soft and when you play hard. No wonder Tony McManus and Don Ross own Beneteau Guitars.

2007 Mustapick OM Cocobolo/European
Matt Mustapick is known for fresh ideas, he frequently builds fan and baritone guitars, unique pieces and always with lovely woods. This Arena OM has a lot of cool features, first of all it is a multiscale design combining short scale trebles (24.9″) and long scale basses (25.5). This has multiple benefits including even tension across strings, improved intonation and the ability to handle low tunings extremely well. This Mustapick OM also has a wedge body and an armrest bevel making it easy to hold. There’s a cutaway for full access as well and all of this on a body crafted of premium Cocobolo Rosewood and European Spruce.
