Description

An amazing Nylon guitar made by Kirk Sand is 1995. The Mahogany back and sides and Spruce top combine with the nylon strings to produce a tone that is complex yet full and vibrant, both unplugged and amplified. This guitar was custom ordered by George Simmons in 1995 and bears his name at the 19th fret. The abalone purfling on this instrument is amazing! Kirk says of these guitars: "I really had Chet in mind for this guitar. He was using the Gibson CE at the time, but was interested in something with less sustain in the bass and a lighter weight body. I Discovered by hollowing the body completely out, and putting a standard braced classic top on it was the answer. As soon as Chet played it, he ordered one." And with that, we must mention that this guitar was signed on the front by none other than Chet Atkins himself, along with master fingerstylist Paul Yandell. Truly a world class instrument with unmatched tone and playability.

This guitar impresses me with it's big acoustic sound, even though it's so slender. But that's an indication that's it's well crafted for tone and plugged in you just get more great tone. Setup for live work without feedback this is the perfect axe for the player doing weddings or restaurants. Easy to travel to the gig and great sound when you get there.
