2012 Barthell Concert, Cocobolo/Cedar
A lovely 2012 Concert Classical from John Peter Barthell in Cocobolo and Red Cedar. A very thin matte finish and long 654mm scale make for crisp trebles and a very lively bass response; the Cedar top and Cocobolo body help flesh out the voice with warmth and overtones in the middle register. Gilbert tuners are unmatched for their smooth operation, and the overall lightweight build (3lbs 13oz) keep the playing experience as easy as breathing.
Other spellings: barrtel, bartell, johnpeter, cocabolo, ceder, glibert

I was born several decades after the civil war, and spent my working life in the northern suburbs of Chicago. My training is as an engineer. I started building guitars in 1976 and am self taught, with minor assists from Irving Sloane and Robert Ruck. I’m just your ordinary old guy dedicated to building fine instruments. This means clean workmanship and balanced, recital-quality tone.
