2015 Fylde Falstaff East Indian/Engelmann
Fylde Guitars are among England’s finest offerings to the instrument world: today’s 2015 Falstaff has all the bass and projection to make that offering a rather loud one. With a fine-grained Indian Rosewood three-piece back and sides and Engelmann Spruce top, this guitar has a complexity of tone well-suited to both flatpicking and fingerstyle players, and is finished with a glass-smooth neck profile that is effortless to play. The multicolored marquetry found in the trim and rosette are tasteful and well-executed, and help accentuate the grain patterns across the three sections of Indian Rosewood which span the back. This is the kind of guitar which responds aggressively the more you dig into the strings; keeping up with most Dreadnoughts. This guitar comes with a Hiscox hardshell case.

Fylde Guitars came about from Roger Bucknall’s early immersion in music, technology and craftsmanship. His instruments were central to the acoustic music revival in the UK, and the constant theme of his work since then has been collaboration with professional musicians from all over the world. His client list is a who’s who of household names, including his own guitar heroes, and the list is constantly growing through new generations of artists.
