Henriksen The Blu Amplifier with Padded Gig Bag
We wanted to create a single channel version of our enormously successful amp, The Bud, but we also wanted to try a slightly different design concept which allows us to keep the same great sound but 5 lbs lighter! At 12 lbs and 120 watts with all the essential features and Bluetooth auxiliary channel, The Blu is professional-grade through and through with the same great tone as The Bud. In the beginning, Bud Henriksen’s goal was to create a small, simple, plug-n-play amplifier that sounded great and was loud enough to gig. His original amplifiers had a blue painted baffle, so we used that as the inspiration for The Blu’s design.
The Blu has a 5-band graphic EQ, FX loop, reverb, full 48 volt phantom power and a Bluetooth auxiliary input for backing tracks or set break music. There is also a studio-grade balanced XLR line out, a headphone output, and a parallel extension speaker output to make full use of The Blu’s output power.

Do you want to have an amplifier the size of a toaster that gives you the quality of tone for BOTH electric and acoustic instruments that you’d expect from a studio situation with enough volume to cover almost any gig? Of course you do. That’s why if you play guitar, or any stringed instrument with a pickup for that matter, you need a Bud. The Bud has every feature you need and more than enough volume to get your bandmates or club manager to ask you to turn down, and coupled with the extension cabinet you can keep up with the heaviest-handed drummer with no problem. The amp and cabinet are naturally feedback resistant which limits the need for artificial notch filtering and other suppression technologies that negatively effect your tone.
But it’s not all about size and volume, there are lots of tiny, loud amplifiers on the market. You’ve tried them. You know what they sound like. The Bud is different. Henriksen Amplifiers is all about tone first, the incredibly portable size and feature set of The Bud were developed around the sound, not the other way around and you can definitely hear the difference. Our pre-amp, from input to output, is designed using the highest grade audio components. We offer a 5-band EQ with carefully chosen center frequencies which were fine-tuned by ear to meet the demands of different playing environments using the widest possible array of musical instruments. We give you two identical pre-amps, each with independent EQ and reverb and actual 48 volt phantom power, and an auxiliary input on each channel so that whatever you are using it for can be EQ’d separately from your instrument signal.

Bud Henriksen, after searching for years for a guitar amplifier that sounded the way he thought it should for jazz guitar, finally decided to just build one the way he wanted it. Sticking to a few key principles such as an analog design with no filters and no tone controls, and keeping it simple with just an input and a 5-band EQ, the JazzAmp prototypes were born in 2005. The fist production model was shipped in October of 2006, and the JazzAmp has since evolved to include significant increases in power and essential features which do not detract from the original tone of the first prototypes. The JazzAmpTM features an Eminence Beta speaker and a defeat-able Eminence tweeter for an even, full range response in port tuned cabinets designed to handle the low end of an upright bass yet maintain high end complexities necessary for guitar or other instruments. The Beta speaker gives you a warm, dark and mellow tone and the tweeter creates a high frequency dimension that sparkles and really brings out acoustic qualities of your guitar, and will add an acoustic quality to your solid body guitars or EUB’s. The feature set on the JazzAmp includes an input gain control along with the 1/4″/XLR phantom powered combo jack to accommodate almost any pickup system. The 5-band EQ offers the ability to adjust the amplifier to the room without altering the original tone of the instrument. There is also an extension speaker output, FX loop, tweeter defeat switch, balanced XLR line out and a headphone jack. Optional gig bag shown for reference but sold separately.
