2008 Muiderman The Wave, Brazilian Rosewood/Cedar
Kevin Muiderman applies double top designs to this Wave body for added power and push, without losing the warmth and roundness of Cedar. Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides doesn’t hurt, either! The neck carve has a slightly slender profile for deft lefthand work. Additional features include a cutaway and “wave” body style with a slight body wedge for added ease of play. A K&K Trinity pickup system and custom Pegasus case complete the picture. Coming to us from 2008, this Muiderman Wave has opened up sweetly.

Who knew Cedar could be so loud? Kevin Muiderman, apparently. This 2012 Muiderman Wave has a double Cedar top, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, and enough volume and sustain to rattle the windows on the entire block. This model was originally developed for Martin Simpson, and features a slight body taper (the bass side is a bit narrower than the treble side) with the fretboard tapered in the opposite direction to keep your left hand comfortable. Additionally, Kevin installed an arm bevel and soundport, as well as gold EVO frets and a Florentine Cutaway.
This is the sort of guitar that goes from 0 to 100 with even a light touch. Kevin’s double top technique and use of composite braces makes for explosive projection and note clarity. You’ll be able to pick out each note in crisp detail. The neck carve is a smooth C shape, and the nut comes in at 1 11/16” for quick left hand work.
This Muiderman Wave is packing some serious heat.

Muiderman Guitars are a blend of traditional hand-craftsmanship and new acoustic technology. In recent years, luthier Kevin Muiderman has added the scientific method to the traditional craft of building guitars. Combined with the use of the finest tonewoods, his experimentation with carbon fiber laminates, “double tops” and non-traditional bracing methods have produced guitars—both classical and steel string—that deliver a boldness, volume, and clarity of note not found elsewhere. Having been a woodworker, sculptor, and guitar player for years, building guitars had been a dream since childhood. So, back in the early ’90s, he trained with master guitar makers Ivon Schmukler and Alan Chapman at Leeds Guitar Maker’s School in Northampton MA. In addition to learning the craft of building traditionally constructed instruments, Kevin studied Alan Chapman’s methods for designing and building carbon fiber, lattice braced guitars using “test bed” techniques to work through designs before going into production.
