I was born and raised in Paterson, NJ and attended PS 14, PS 5 and John F. Kennedy High School. From there I received my B.S. degree in Chemistry at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute. I then attended the University of Vermont and received a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry. After working a number of years at Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, I made the decision to leave the corporate world to raise my family and pursue other interests. Ultimately this led me to my current career building guitars. I’ve now been building guitars professionally for the past ten years in my shop in Hamilton, NY. Building guitars allows me to combine my passion for creating and building with my love of guitar music.
My approach to guitar building is greatly influenced by my nature and experience as a scientist. I have an experimental approach based on the art of discovery and exploration. Like a good scientist I have studied the prior art of the masters, such as Torres, Hauser, Martin and many others both past and present. From this basis I’ve continued my own experiments in design while always being open to serendipitous discovery. As a result my guitars reflect my own personality and path of discovery making them uniquely mine. I have a holistic approach to building, recognizing the guitar is a complicated interdependent system, and that each guitar is built from unique natural materials.
