I'm Rosie, the founder of Turnstone Guitar Company. I fell in love with the steel string guitar in my late teens. From the moment I first began to strum my first simple chord progressions, I knew I had found the musical instrument for me. I began pursuing the craft of guitar making whilst living and working in London in my mid twenties. Creatively speaking, I was feeling a little unfulfilled in my day job and thought an evening course in guitar making might be a nice side pursuit, combining my love for the guitar with some new and interesting woodworking challenges. It turned out to be so much more than I could have ever imagined and has dramatically redirected the course of my career, and my life. The thirst for more knowledge and understanding of the craft was ravenous, something I had never experienced to this degree before. I sought out any way that I could increase my skills whilst still working full time. On Saturdays I helped out at Luthiers Corner on Denmark Street in London - famously known as the "Tin Pan Alley" of music shops. I turned our small spare bedroom into a little workshop and began making a ukulele. My curiosity and developing love for guitar building led me to pursue a part-time apprenticeship with a London based luthier for two years, specialising in modern steel-string acoustic guitars. I began the long road to honing my skills, working with some of the world’s finest wood and taking the first steps to develop my first guitar model. In 2015, I opened the doors of my own workshop and Turnstone Guitar Company was born! It is a privilege and an honour to be trusted to build special instruments for guitar players around the world. I take great pride knowing that there are Turnstone guitars in many countries all over the world now, singing with their own unique voices. In 2012 I married my husband, Karl, who provided much needed moral support during the ups and downs of a fledgling business. With me talking all things guitar all the time, he couldn’t help but become involved and began working more and more in the background as Turnstone Guitar Company began to grow and establish its reputation. In late 2021 he joined Turnstone full-time, bringing new and exciting expertise into the business. So, we truly are a family run business! As you can imagine, I continue to be deeply involved in every step of the commissioning and build process, from sourcing the best materials to working with clients to create their dream guitars. My commitment to quality and attention to detail ensures that each guitar is truly one-of-a-kind. I'd love to work with you to create something that's truly unique and special.​
