Joshia grew up in her fathers (Sergei De Jonge) shop and started building at a young age, and the experience shows. This OMC in East Indian Rosewood and Cedar from Joshia is a spectacular instrument in every regard, from fit to finish, and tone to playabilty, this is a guitar that stuns the player from the first note. This Tacchi Coclea Thucia is the sort of instrument that inspired the concept behind Dream Guitars. It is an instrument that stands far above the many instruments in the world and offers something very unique and special. Tacchi developed the 3 piece top combining Cedar outer boards with Alpine Spruce in the center after hearing a Torres model with softer spruce surrounding stiffer spruce. This design makes for trebles that ‘ring like a bell’ says Tacchi and we can confirm that. Rarely have we heard such clear and present treble strings on a nylon guitar. Here we have a Schoenberg ES-14C built by Bruce Sexauer. Bruce has been a long standing favorite here at the Dream Guitars shop, he builds some of the most “Alive” guitars we have come across. Legendary fingerpicker Eric Schoenberg has a handfull of the top luthiers build guitars under the Schoenberg name.This Schoenberg is one of the best sounding guitars in this size body that we have played in quite some time. You almost have to tie this down to keep it from vibrating off of your lap – it is that powerful and responsive. Every string has so much complexity and character of tone it is staggering. Haruo 80 Indian/Sitka

This T. Haruo guitar is the perfect performing musicians instrument. It will withstand the trials of the road and stage while sounding great the whole time. T. Haruo guitars were made during the early 80s and have been well appreciated, even coveted by their owners over the years. While they were made in a factory-line style, each part of the guitar was still hand made.

Styled much after a Martin dreadnought, this Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce guitar has all that familiar dread tone we have all come to love and respect with a lovely mother of pearl motif. This would make a great flatpicking guitar or do just as well as an accompaniment for a vocalist.

This Martin 00-16DBFM is the very first one made in its series! The label reads Instrument #1 and it is certainly a winner in our books. Built of stunning Flamed Bigleaf Maple and shimmering Sitka Spruce, this guitar has punchy, dry bass and mids combined with twinkling, lush highs. The DBFM was made in support of the Women And Music Program and has a slightly narrower nut of 1 11/16″, great for those with shorter fingers or those who like a closer string spacing on the neck.

1977 Guild D-55NT Indian/Sitka

In 1977, Guild made a D55NT that was much like any other. It was well made, durable, and ready for years of playing. But unlike many of its brethren, this one was destined to end up in the hands of an incredible artist and performer. This guitar belonged to the one and only David Wilcox, a local Ashevillian and a supreme songwriter. In his hands, this guitar shone, but eventually the two parted ways and now the Guild has made its way back to our shop in the course of its search for a new home. Recently set up and in fine playing shape, you’ll be hard pressed to find a guitar with a better story to it than this one. The classic pairing of Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce will have you singing right along with it. It would make the perfect stage guitar or even collector piece, depending on what you are looking to accomplish. Come check it out and see what you think!

2003 Martin OM-42 Quilted Maple II Quilted Maple/Italian

Here we have a Martin OM-42 Quilted Maple 2 number 6 of 30. This is the first of its kind that we have seen from Martin, the wood choice truly is unique and stunning. The Quilted Maple used on this guitar is nothing short of fantastic, and Martin and co. took it one step further by staining the wood, bringing forth a truly three dimensional effect. The maple is paired with a tight grained Italian Spruce top. This OM took us all by surprise in the tone department, it is crystal clear and responsive, favoring the fundamental with only a hint of warm overtones. Here we have an all around great 1966 Martin D-21 in Sitka Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood. It is hard to beat a good Martin dread for tone, and this one has it, big full and open without being overpoweringly bass heavy. Playability is as good as new on this dread, Ken Jones did a neck set and full refret, nut and saddle, bringing this beauty back in to its hay day.

Here we have a Lowden S-25 in Red Cedar and East Indian Rosewood. This is a guitar perfectly suited to fingerpicking and folk music. John Bogdanovich is one of the greatest Classical guitar builders on the scene right now. His guitars are uniformly spectacular, everything from build quality to tone is at the absolute peak of the craft. This 2008 Concert Classical is built from a beautiful set of Brazilian Rosewood and a perfect, even grained German Spruce top. John’s style is one of extreme refinement. From the stunning burl and handmade herringbone rosette to the tasteful colors used in the purflings. This is a guitar that commands attention when you see it. Tonally this classical has everything a concert level performer could want: clear and powerful trebles, present mids and full, boisterous basses, all with incredible balance and pianistic note separation. This is as good as it gets, a builder like John should be held to the same level as Torres and Hauser.
