2019 Casimi C4S, The Tree Mahogany/Spruce
A 12-fret Jumbo. Not a phrase you hear every day, even in the boutique guitar world. But here we are—saying it, and meaning it—because wow, this is seriously good. This is a 2019 Casimi C4s decked out in The Tree Mahogany. And if that introduction wasn’t exclusive enough…
From the workshop of Mattias Roux and Matthew Rice, this gorgeous jumbo embodies all the singular qualities Casimi is known for. There are some notable departures here as well: the Casimi logo is typically metallic—gold, bronze, or silver—but on this guitar it’s rendered in abalone. The ornamentation is focused primarily on the rosette, showcasing Casimi’s signature design language with a bold, beveled, and extravagant presence.
This guitar proves just how powerful organic materials can be within Casimi’s construction style, without the need for heavy stylization across the entire instrument. Sonically, it’s cavernous, powerful, clear, and precise—yet still warm, with excellent sustain.
If this guitar were a car, it wouldn’t be a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. It would be a Bugatti—sleek, immensely powerful, and utterly unconcerned with tradition. Look and listen for yourself. This is true art, in its highest form.

Brand New Caton Carolina, Macassar Ebony/Carpathian Spruce
Kevin Caton’s Carolina model packs a wallop. With a 16 inch lower bout, this Carolina has lots of real estate for tone generation, which the Macassar Ebony body and Carpathian Spruce top take immediate advantage of. Great headroom allows for a heavier attack, with a strong fundamental in the bass register and some sparkling overtones on the top end. Kevin’s asymmetrical upper bout design allows for easy fingerboard access without compromising the amount of air the body can move, and looks fresh and modern to boot. When you factor in the geometric motifs at the endgraft, rosette, heelcap, and headplate, this Caton Carolina stands out from the crowd in all the right ways.

The voice is crisp, with added sweetness in the mids and treble for a great mix of warmth and precision; fingerstyle rarely sounds so fine as it does here. 1997 Collings OM41E, Indian Rosewood/Engelmann Spruce
1997 Collings OM-41E with Indian Rosewood back and sides and an Engelmann Spruce top. This OM is truly astounding. The Art Nouveau fingerboard inlays and torch headstock detail lend it an elegant, almost austere look—but the real magic lies in the tone. Indian Rosewood is sometimes dismissed as a lesser tonewood, but this guitar would cause an existential crisis for anyone who believes that.
Built during one of the most coveted eras in Collings history, and further enhanced by the natural alchemy of time, this instrument has depth, personality, and power in spades. It’s a perfect example of just how dynamic and expressive an OM can be. There are a few honest signs of age, but they translate directly into character and enormous sound. Do yourself a favor and give this one a listen.
