We originally custom ordered this Maingard OM as soon as Marc Maingard told us he had located some rare Pink Ivory Wood. We’ve used this wood in the past and it always sounds wonderfully rich, complex and unique. Its beautiful color gives this guitar a distinct beauty that matches its tone. It is paired here with a perfect European Spruce top for clarity, power and beauty. For comfort there are both an Armrest and Ribrest bevel. A gorgeous Wave rosette, red perfling lines everywhere and a striped heel cap complete this striking instrument.

We are delighted to be able to offer this rare Thomas Humphrey Millenium guitar. It starts with a tremendous set of straight-grained Brazilian Rosewood and is topped with well-matured Spruce. This is a rare one where Tom used his curved ‘smiley-face’ bridge design and is a 660 scale.
Luthier, and head of Guitar at Furman University, Steven Walter went over this instrument for us and made a new bridge, refretted it and touched up the French Polish breathing wonderful new life into this wonderful guitar. This guitar is suitable for the highest level of player and has a very clear and articulate voice that is at once powerful and lyrical. This is a tremendous example of Humphrey’s great work.

Bob Taylor started his career as a solo guitar builder much like the many great builders of today. Anyone who’s played one of those early Taylors knows how different they are from the Taylor Factory guitars, more open, alive and complex in tone. R. Taylor Guitars was setup to offer a smaller shop approach to building, offering custom guitars such as this beautiful Sinker Redwood and Cocobolo Rosewood Style 1.
The subtle sunburst over the natural colors in the Sinker Redwood makes this R. Taylor guitar stand out. Sinker Redwood comes from a famous log found near Mendicino California that spent it’s lifetime submerged. This Redwood is stiffer than most and here with it’s modified Adirondack bracing it produces a wonderful rich tone, that is also powerful. Paired here with dramatic Cocobolo Rosewood for a unique elegance and tone.

The vintage 1993 Bourgeois Jumbo OM (JOM) fills a wonderful niche for players who demand a balanced voice, but want just a bit more bottom end and punch. This one has the patina of age on it’s top and it’s gorgeous voice. The Rosewood and Spruce body is very responsive and lively. Players with a light touch will be rewarded with plenty of tone but players who like to hit hard will be equally satisfied. This is a great example of Dana’s work from the early days when he was a one man shop.

The Grandson of the owner of this 1934 Martin 000-18 brought it to us in all original condition. It needed a little love so we enlisted Master Luthier Bill Tippin to bring it back to it’s glory. Bill truly loves to work on vintage gems, especially ones like this. We were able to keep it completely original but for a new bridge and thin sister plate added to the bridgeplate. See the condition statement for details.
As for the tone, this is a sweetheart! Powerful, dry, throaty, everything you want in a Prewar Mahogany/Adirondack Martin. It’s a featherweight and the notes just fill the room. The setup is perfect and it plays beautifully. Bill carefully rounded the bar fret ends for a great feel. This one has some patina and very cool wear, but it’s solid and ready for another 80+ years of music!

This lovely Martin OM-21C Mandolin Brothers Special is from a nice custom series commissioned by Mandolin Brothers, and it’s very cool that they designed a guitar that delivers on tone and playability but doesn’t break the bank. And now for something completely different! Paul Schmidt, musician, teacher, designer and author of The Art and Times of Steve Klein commissioned a one-of-a-kind instrument that started with a completed Steve Klein top from the 1990s and became much more…
Paul collaborated with Luthiers Steve Kaufman and Jason Harshbarger to build this wonderful Klein inspired Jumbo guitar.Rare Pink Ivory wood was chosen for the back and sides and layered with Rosewood for added projection. A Klein solid Rosewood neck was added for feel and sustain and a Klein L-45.7 Bridge as well. Inlay artist extraordinaire, Larry Robinson was enlisted to create the stunning inlay designs by German Art Nouveau artist Peter Behrens. The inlay has a real sense of movement and flow and is done completely in real silver! Inset into the headstock is a hand carved solid Ivory Moon Face by Ron Fromkin. The body was then completely bound in real Ivory and tuner buttons carved from the same. So in addition to Pink Ivory wood, there is real salvaged Ivory in abundance. Something very rare these days.
There is a plaque affixed to the back on the inside (next to an original Klein label) that has all of us that participated and a quote, along with the name of the guitar – Pink Ivory Moon – it’s engraved real ivory as well. The finish is an oil finish with a French polish top. To keep it safe there is an original Klein Calton Case as well. Truly a work of art and an incredible musical instrument capable of voices that only a Steve Klein voiced top could produce. Big bass, bright trebles and everything in between.

Paul Schmidt, musician, teacher, designer and author of The Art and Times of Steve Klein worked with Jason Harshbarger of Highland Strings to build this Klein inspired 12 string guitar.
It started with a Klein Spruce top, bridge and solid Brazilian Rosewood Neck. The body was bound in Holly wood which frames the Mahogany body beautifully. Paul enlisted inlay artist Larry Robinson to create a simple and artistic fretboad inlay in copper. Inset into the headstock is a fossil-like Fern carving. On the back is a bloodwood Asian character that stands for ‘awareness’, “something the world needs much more of” says Paul Schmidt.
To complete the project a hand-made wooden case was created featuring vintage latches and handle and a Jade Oroboros adorns the interior. Paul used this guitar with heavier strings tuned down to D. It has a loud and deep voice that remains beautiful at all times. Not harsh some some 12 strings can be. It plays very easily and the Rosewood neck feels amazing.
