This 2011 Paul Beard E Model is a custom build that we commissioned for one of our long time clients a few years back. It is now returning to our flock for a time and we couldn’t be happier to see it here again. It has been treated extremely well since we last hosted it and remains is in true Mint condition.
From the tasteful 12th fret inlay to the unique crescent moon style cover plate and hypnotic Brazilian Rosewood laminate back and sides, this one is made to get people’s attention even before you start to play. But once it’s in your hands and you start grooving away, the sweet singing 12 fret body will dazzle you and your spectators equally. For those worried that twelve frets aren’t enough, this one conveniently comes with an elegant Venetian cutaway that makes hitting the high notes as easy as breathing. If you’re looking for a killer resonator with all the strength and tone you can hope for, this here is one to end your search.

With the Odyssey, Paul Beard has once again raised the bar for what a resonator can sound like. This is one of the first few available anywhere in the country — the first run was snatched up by Vince Gill and other Nashville A-listers.
We custom ordered this amazing version of Paul Beard newest model, The Odyssey. The Camphor Burl back and sides have to be seen to be believed; the natural patterns in the wood are stunning and deep and hypnotically kaleidoscopic, but looks are only a part of it. The sound of these guitars has been described as “huge.” This fine instrument has great bass content, rich, full satisfying volume, and just the right amount of bluesy snarl thanks to the “Legend Tone” polished cone and oval soundhole. The playability of this resonator is perfect in every way. A Fishman Spider pickup and Aura imaging pedal are also included.

I first became fascinated with resonator guitars when I was 18 years old, about the same time I started repairing stringed instruments. The job market dried up just about the time I was fresh out of school with degrees in Aviation Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering. Supported by family and friends, my musical career was launched as a teacher, stringed instrument technician and performer. As a road musician I became dissatisfied with the quality of available resonator guitars and focused my skills on design and construction of a next generation instrument, a guitar that would take advantage of new technologies and techniques while honoring the tradition of the Dopyera family. The first Beard resonator guitar was delivered to a customer in 1985. I’m pleased that the company has continued to innovate since that first guitar was delivered. Here are a few milestones of which I am particularly proud:-Open soundwell construction designed in 1986-The first “R” body, derived from Mike Auldridge’s pre-war Regal, 1987-The Josh Graves model delivered in 1992-The open body E model delivered in 2000-Beard spun cones shipped in 2003-The Mike Auldridge signature guitar delivered in 2004-Custom coverplates designed in 2004Today Beard Guitars, LLC hand crafts fourteen square neck and round neck models. My guitars are enjoyed by fans, serious amateurs and touring professionals. I’ve been honored that players like Mike Auldridge, LeRoy Mack , Tim Graves and many other friends choose Beard guitars to play.I’m eagerly anticipating the next twenty years.
