2008 Beneteau 00 12-Fret, Brazilian Rosewood/Western Red Cedar
If you want a big voice from a small place, this 2008 Beneteau 00 12-Fret is the dream machine that can take you there. Hearty and expansive midrange, round and articulate trebles, frankly great bass–it’s wide awake and singing sweetly. The Brazilian Rosewood body with Cedar top is part of that of course, but the rest is the alchemy of play time and Marc’s efforts during the build. The bridge is also an upgraded Brazilian Rosewood pyramid number that sets off the Cedar top and figured rosette; ditto for the bindings and headplate. The neck features a wider 1 13/16″ nut for an extra comfy lefthand experience, while the scale is 25.6″ to keep the tone crisp and defined.

This is a sweet, smooth, and well-oiled machine. We’re in love. Marc Beneteau has been one of our favorite builders from our neighboring Canada for a number of years, and he is well loved in the modern fingerstyle world (if Don Ross is on board, you know he’s doing something right). Here we’ve landed a Concert Standard Cutaway from 2003 that’s opened up handsomely for a lively, expansive voice that balances lush overtones with a crisp and strong fundamental. Fingerstylists, take heed! Brazilian Rosewood back and sides pair up with German Spruce on top, and additionally Marc has added an arm bevel for creature comfort—plus a K&K Trinity pickup system. We just refretted this one so it’s ready for more action!

A powerhouse for the stage, the studio, and everywhere in between. Our latest Beneteau is a beautiful Concert Standard from 2005 dressed up in Pommele Sapele and Adirondack Spruce with all the trimmings to sweeten the pot. Venetian cutaway to keep the top frets dust free, soundport to keep you high in your personal mix, Laskin-style arm bevel for creature comfort, and a B-Band dual source, UST + AG-MIC microphone pickup system. What’s else is there to ask for? The setup is a breeze, and we love the crunch and clarity that the Sapele provides to the tone; combined with the stiffness and projection of Adirondack this Beneteau has power and clarity in equal measure.

Marc Beneteau’s take on the Nick Lucas model has a bucket full of bass and sparkling trebles on top. This deep bodied fingerstyle machine makes for a great companion for singer-songwriters, or for any devotee to open tunings (it’s particularly warm to Open G). Gorgeous Quilted Pomele Sapele back and sides, Adirondack Spruce top, BRW bridge, Waverly tuners and a 25.4” fretboard—all the fixings for an energetic little sound cannon. And this gem from 2008 comes to us with nary a scratch on it! You can’t get much more minty than this without it arriving shrink wrapped in its original packaging.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, and growing up next to the large musical centre of Detroit, Marc early on developed an eclectic taste in music. He began playing guitar at the age of ten, and progressed through many musical styles from folk through the British invasion, and finally as a blues rock guitarist in his early twenties. In 1974, two things occurred that changed Marc’s life. He decided that he didn’t want to make a living at music, and he met the Canadian guitar maker Jean Larriveé.Inspired by the beauty of his instruments, Marc decided to dive headlong into the world of luthiery.Struggling at first by trial and error, he managed to stick with it, and now realized that he couldn’t have made a more rewarding career choice. Today, Marc lives in the town of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, doing what he loves to do, building acoustic guitars.
We've been working with Marc Beneteau for a number of years and are always inspired by his clear, articulate tone. We have sold many of his guitars and we consistently letters of gratitude from their owners who are happy to have found their musical soulmates in Beneteau Guitars.
