Brand New Micheletti Osprey Rigid Rim, Figured Koa/Sinker Redwood
This Osprey Rigid Rim model from Micheletti has a lot going on. Bevels, soundport, killer tone. Some incredibly gorgeous Koa and Sinker Redwood are the main ingredients for this sonic bird of prey. What a bird of prey it is. The rigid rim construction allows for immense and immersive volume. The rounded bevels throughout are beyond comfort and the soundport gives that little extra “me” in the monitor.

We love it when a parlor size guitar strikes it rich! This 2015 Micheletti Peregrine packs an expansive voice into a trim package that’s characterized by round trebles, lots of color and dynamism in the bass, and a lively responsiveness that can quickly fill the room if you’re not careful. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (seriously gorgeous example of this rarest of tonewoods), Adirondack Spruce on top for extra stiffness and power, and then luthier Rick Micheletti finished it off with a 12-fret neck to warm up those trebles for a round, fat sound.
The Peregrine is trimmed out in Abalone from head to toe, and features individual saddles for each string, so dialing in your perfect setup is easy as pie. This Micheletti comes wrapped up in a Hoffee flight case, and is more than ready to go anywhere, at any time. Here’s an additional demo with our own Al Petteway: https://youtu.be/43NY3I2JsR0

Here we have a Micheletti Osprey “rigid rim” jumbo in Western Red Cedar and Padauk. The rigid rim is a patented design element that Rick has developed in an effort to stiffen the sides to aid in greater projection and improved treble response. Additionally, this makes for a very comfortable instrument with no sharp corners. Indeed, the Osprey has a great big voice with clearly defined trebles, thanks to the intense Padauk back and sides, and plenty of warmth and bass response courtesy of the Cedar top.

Rick began his passion for lutherie in 1981 when he began repairing instruments for himself and friends. Before long he could see that he wanted to do much more, even to construct a guitar. So he enrolled in Vermont Instrument Workshop in the fall of 1982 and stayed with instructor George Morris for eight weeks. During that time, he hand crafted two guitars of his design and was even more resolute to become a professional luthier.
He continued working in engineering offices as an industrial designer and later as a consultant. Even though guitar building and repair was kept on a part-time basis during this time, Rick never lost his desire to be a full-time builder.
Finally, in 1994, when he and his wife Deana moved from Sebastopol California, to Willits, about 80 miles north, his dream began to become a reality. After constructing a large shop and office on their 20 acre horse ranch, he was ready to go full time, a choice he has never regretted.
Rick has united his skills and observations as a guitar repairman and his years of design experience with his passion to create guitars. The result of this fusion of skills is a hand-crafted instrument that is a pleasure to play, hear and see. He loves to work closely with his clients to create an instrument that is stirring to them. His goal is to create an instrument that inspires his clients to new levels of performance and creativity.
