2007 True North Model 2 Grand Auditorium, Brazilian Rosewood/Lucky Strike Redwood
Dennis Scannell’s True North guitars have an unerring accuracy and clarity that makes for exquisite acoustic detail. This 2007 Model 2 is the perfect fingerstylist’s tool. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (arrow-straight grain), “Lucky Strike” Redwood, and a 25.8” scale all come together in a rich, resonant voice that’s perfect for altered tuning territory. The Grand Auditorium body shape gives extra depth to the bass response, but this True North still plays handsomely and without effort; it rewards a light attack with a lush splay of overtones across the mids and trebles. This one features Dennis’s Platinum Upgrade P ackage, which includes a tapered body, Calton flight case, semi-hemispherical fret ends, and a double graphite-reinforced neck.
Good luck trying to play a bad note on this powerhouse True North guitar.Other keywords: lutherie, luthier, handbuilt, GA, brazilain rosewood, Lucky Strike Redwood, Amboyna Burl,”LS” Redwood

Dennis Scannell incorporates a number of sophisticated and worthwhile design features into his guitars. The tapered/wedge body shape is something we love, it keeps the bass controlled and in balance on a larger guitar and also greatly enhances comfort. Dual graphite neck reinforcements, along with the truss rod, make for great stability when moving between tunings. On the outside you get precise and beautiful craftsmanship in every detail. The voice of this guitar is warm and very clear and in balance. Ziricote and Redwood combine beautifully to make this a superb fingerstyle guitar and very capable for altered tunings.

My journey into guitar making began when I bought my first book on the subject back in 1971. At the same time I started a career in high end woodworking, which included sophisticated custom cabinetry which flowed around walls, freestanding spiral staircases, artist studios, creative store spaces, etc. During my woodworking career I created many happy customers and developed a reputation among other woodworkers as “the man with the Angstrom-unit tape measure”. In addition to my custom cabinetry and design work, for several years I ran a crew of talented finish carpenters for a custom design/build company specializing in unique high end passive solar homes with unusually complex details. In addition to my woodworking experience, I also have over fifteen years of experience as a product engineer and product manager for a semiconductor equipment company (where my products DID actually operate with submicron precision) and in both product management and program management for a renewable energy company.
