S. R. de Jonge’s SS model has a clear, articulate voice that sounds great when fingerpicked and it really shines when played with a flatpick too. The Brazilian Rosewood really adds complex richness to the tone of this outstanding Adirondack Topped instrument. This beauty is adorned with Snakewood bindings and buttons and a Burl Rosette for a natural, yet exotic look. de Jonge guitars are very well known to guitarists the world over. They are specifically known for very high quality craftsmanship and lovely, balanced tone.

Here is a spectacular de Jonge Dreadnought that was built in 2004. The superb black Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce really make this guitar a standout. It’s got a big voice, lots of bass and strong top end – capable of anything you ask of it. A very fine de Jonge acoustic!

Dream Guitars is thrilled to announce that we are now representing the new works of luthier Trevor Kronbauer. We have admired Trevor’s excellent instruments for years, so it is a true pleasure to be a Kronbauer dealer. This brand new Kronbauer Mini Jumbo is a big sounding, richly detailed instrument that excels in every way. The quality is superb, and the careful attention to detail is apparent. This one is Indian Rosewood and Engelmann Spruce. It would be difficult to find another mid-priced guitar with so many deluxe features and such excellent sound.

Dream Guitars is thrilled to announce that we are now representing the new works of luthier Trevor Kronbauer. We have admired Trevor’s excellent instruments for years, so it is a true pleasure to be a Kronbauer dealer. This Mini Jumbo is a superbly crafted, excellent sounding example of the luthier’s art. Made of Indian Rosewood and Sitka, it offers full bass and crystal clear, sparkling trebles. Like all Kronbauer guitars, this Mini Jumbo is a great value – it would be difficult to find another mid-priced guitar with so many deluxe features and excellent sound.

Built in 2008, this excellent Martin OM-21 Special has much of the appeal of a great vintage instrument. The finish is a vintage top toner that makes it look right at home next to the classics. Other features include a pyramid bridge, bound ebony fretboard and a Delmar tortoise pickguard.

This is an extremely fine fingerstyle instrument, but it is also capable of a whole lot more. It has lovely warm bass, and trebles that are round, yet very clear. In all, the OM-21 Special is one of the most impressive new Martins we’ve played!

Featuring gorgeous Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, this Adirondack Spruce topped Martin is amongst the most enjoyable guitars I’ve ever played. The neck makes fretting challenging chords nearly effortless, and is unbelievably comfortable to hold. Tone-wise, this is a real gem too – offering snap and clarity in the low end (for amazing definition in the lower frequencies) and full frequency trebles that never sound thin or harsh. The medium size body gives up a surprising amount of volume, and is capable of handling techniques with fingers and flatpick with equally well.

We first met Steve Fischer when he was heading up Paul Reed Smith’s Private Stock Acoustic division (prior to PRS he built instruments for McPherson Guitars). We were immediately impressed with the extent of Steve’s knowledge, and his uncanny knack for voicing exquisite instruments. We are now representing Steve Fischer’s private guitars – of which this is the first to arrive. It is a gorgeous OM Concerto guitar, Indian/Sitka, with a voice that makes it appropriate for any style of music. A superb player, with good looks to spare! – look for more Fischers to arrive soon!

Built in Leningrad in 1978 this excellent classical guitar is the work of luthier Andrei Khomiachkov. It was originally owned by noted Russian virtuoso Alexander Frauchi; one of two Khomiachkov guitars that he owned. The Khomiachkov is well built, and its point of origin notwithstanding, has a decidedly Spanish tone. The overall volume and projection are superb and it plays extremely well. This is a concert level guitar priced for everyone.

This Custom Charis SJ once again proves that Bill Wise is a master builder who achieves his voice in every instrument he makes. That’s a sign of a great builder to us. Featuring a forearm bevel, side sound port, and impeccable and beautiful inlay work, this Ziricote wonder has a is an ideal fingerstyle guitar. The playability is simply superb! The back and sides are from a wonderfully figured piece of Ziricote that lends great focus to the bass and clarity to the mids. The Engelmann top adds warmth and plenty of volume even from a light touch. A sublime Charis!

Here is a player’s condition 1986 Manuel Contreras Double Top Concert guitar with a signed label. Crafted from Brazilian Rosewood and Red Cedar in his Double Top construction which employs a back lined with Cedar for extra warmth. The voice is sweet, rich and warm, a fine example from Manuel Contreras I. While it does have a bit of cosmetic wear, it is truly sound and will make a great musical companion for the player who values tone over aesthetics.

We’ve been pleased to offer quite a few of Paul McGill’s guitars over the years. Without exception they have been great playing, great sounding musical instruments, built with great care and attention to detail.

This wonderful concert guitar comes to us from the private collection of guitarist and author Bill Piburn who you may know from his work with Fingerstyle Magazine. It has also been recorded by Nashville guitar ace Pete Huttlinger. So it’s a guitar with some provenance.

This McGill Concert is a robust sounding nylon string. It has wonderfully warm bass, that is thick and full without a hint of boominess – just rich detailed tone. The trebles sound excellent all the way up the neck, and played at all dynamic ranges. There is also an RMC pickup system that offer a perfectly balanced amplified sound. This is a professional quality nylon string by one of our favorite builders.

The Milano by luthier Ric McCurdy, is an extremely impressive semi-hollow electric archtop. It has the feel and vibe of a great vintage guitar, but thanks to some clever electronics, it offers a wealth of new sounds as well. The Charlie Christian style humbucking pickup was hand-wound by none other than legendary pickup builder Seymour Duncan. The sound is sophisticated, with thick trebles, perfect for single note playing and fat rhythm comping. The RMC acoustic bridge pickup is enhanced with a flexible EQ circuit, and blended in with the humbucker, is capable of an astonishing diversity of musical tones. As Ric McCurdy says, “My goal is for you to enjoy playing hour after hour, to own a guitar that maintains its stability but grows in volume, richness and investment value year after year.”

Bruce Petros is known for creating very special instruments that are both an expression of the guitar as art and a musical instrument. In his Harvest design he pairs Claro Walnut and Chocolate Cedar for a voice that is powerful, airy and sounds like a 50 yr. old, played in guitar. The Harvest appointments include a custom Wheat rosette, Boxwood trim and bridge and a custom inlay on the fingerboard. All in natural woods which makes it elegant. Like all Petros guitars this one plays like butter, with their slim, fast neck profile. The Petros Harvest is something special and different in the world of guitars today.

Wayne Henderson and his guitars need little introduction these days. Having built for an army of the best players in the world, both in the southeast where we live and for big names like Eric Clapton, his guitars are now legendary. But why? Tone, that’s why. No maker reaches the highest levels without killer tone. His guitars are an inspiration to play, and limitless in there ability to express musical ideas regardless of genre.

This fine Henderson OM has a super punchy sound, and thick trebles. It has wonderful dynamic range and stands up to hard strumming, all the while retaining the well defined tonal complexity that separates it form the rest of the herd. The neck is extremely comfortable, and makes difficult fingerstyle or single note passages a breeze to play. This is an extraordinary guitar that can deliver anything you ask of it.

In this D-18 guitar, Wayne Henderson paired a stunning mahogany set with an Appalachian Red Spruce top… and out came a CANON! You’ve got to hear the clarity and power on this one — a huge fundamental, perfect balance, punch to spare… this is a flatpicker’s or strummer’s dream. But put the pick down and she’s also extremely warm and responsive for fingerstyle. It has a slim and fast neck that will appeal to those with fast fingers. Another winner from Rugsby, VA.

This Dream Series GC is amongst the very finest Petros guitars we’ve laid our hands on. This series was a limited edition of just 10 guitars built with the finest Brazilian Rosewood. This Petros Dream Series is a big, rich-sounding guitar with a tremendous amount of volume and superb projection. Strumming a first position G chord, the attack is punchy and full and the sustain is incredible! Played softly with one’s fingers, and the Petros GC has the sweetest tone, rich in harmonics, with excellent note-bloom.

This is a very versatile instrument with a brilliant voice, built by two of the very best luthiers on the planet.

With the Custom Shop D-18-12, C.F. Martin & Co. have given us one of the best guitars of their modern era. Voiced to be loud and authoritative, this guitar is truly a cannon, with tremendous punch and volume – all without a hint of flubby low-end. Built with Sinker Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce, this is a unique Martin. Flatpicked, the single notes simply leap from this guitar, with wonderful clarity that allows it to be heard in even the densest ensemble. However, to think of this Martin as just a big sounding guitar would be selling it short. Inside of this elegant dread, is an equally fine voice, perfectly suitable for fingerstyle players. With just the right amount of overtones, the CS D-18-12, offers up a superb traditional tones, that record like a charm. This is one of Martin’s finest new offerings that you won’t want to miss out on!

Eric Devine is a top maker of fine guitars from Hawaii. We have had a number of them and each has been a joy to behold and to play. This Brazilian Rosewood and Redwood Jumbo has the perfect character for low tunings and fingerstyle music in general. It’s warm and lush with deep resonant bass. The incredible vine inlays that adorn the guitar from top to bottom are lovely and give this instrument some serious Aloha vibe!

We are now representing Steve Fischer’s private guitars.

This Fischer Concerto model guitar is made from an exceptionally fine set of African Blackwood with dramatic Sapwood, and a stunning Alaskan Yellow Cedar top! This wood combination is outstanding and creates a lush, round note with beautifully, deep, low-mids and round, warm bass. This guitar is bound in Snakewood from head to toe for a rich contrast.

There’s a lot to like about this 1962 Gibson Barney Kessel model. Its famous namesake was of course one of the most highly regarded jazz guitarists of his era – playing on countless recordings by the very biggest names in the business – including Oscar Peterson, Sonny Rollins, Milt Jackson – and countless others.

The Kessel model is a nice jazz box with a slim neck and super fast action. It can get a wide range of tones from its humbuckers, but to our ears it fares best when played on the clean side. That said, a bit of overdrive sounds really great with this vintage beauty too. Its attractive double Florentine cutaway shape is finished in a very pretty cherry sunburst.

Part of Gibson’s Legend Series, the 1937 L-00, was built in 2008 – and based off of a vintage guitar owned by Lee Roy Parnell. One of the earliest guitars in this series, this L-00 came to us from a friend of Lee Roy’s and it’s a cool little guitar. The dimensions are true to the original, with the exact bracing, neck shape, and colors. It also features hot hide glue construction just like the original. A great country-blues guitar, the L-00 Legend Series is sure to offer up hours of great playing!

Here we have an exquisite Antonio Marin Montero guitar that is mature enough to be open and fully alive. The body, crafted from Brazilian Rosewood and Spruce, offers up a sublime voice that is perfect for the player that demand expression and emotion from their instrument. This wonderful example from one of Spain’s finest makers will be the pride and joy of some lucky player.

Here is a custom Tippin Crescendo with Brazilian Rosewood and Carpathian Spruce. It is adorned with Curly Maple bindings and purflings. The tone of this guitar is solid, vibrant and rich, with thick, meaty trebles that seem to guide your hand of their own accord. Supported by a foundation of strong, articulate basses and mids, this guitar is a veritable tone machine. Subtle, yet tasteful artistic accents like the half diamond inlay at the nut an Bill’s famous heel design make for fine compliments to the elegant, all wood aesthetic. It’s no wonder both Al Petteway and Paul Heumiller own Tippin guitars. They inspire.

Here we have a Lance McCollum Baritone in premium Brazilian Rosewood and German Spruce. A combination proven time and time again by many Luthiers to be sublime. Lance bound this beauty with Flamed Koa and adorned the tight grained top with a custom Rosette. Though we lost Lance a few years back his reputation as one of the premiere builders for Baritone guitar lives on. He made over 30, far more than most builders do in a lifetime. They are special!
