2021 Tad Brown CC Gold Archtop, Red Maple/Adirondack Spruce
This Tad Brown CC Gold is a showstopper, equipped with a livewire Charlie Christian cobalt pickup array and a gorgeous finish. This guitar is every bit as lively sounding as it is vibrant looking. But don’t take our word for it; listen for yourself. Gorgeous Red Maple for the back and sides, paired with Adirondack spruce—man, oh man, it doesn’t get much more elegant and classic than that.

Add to Compare2020 LHT Rose Burl Fugue, Flame Maple/Sitka Spruce
It’s not easy to make a new name for yourself in the archtop, electric world, but we think Tyler Wells of LHT Guitars has what it takes. This 2020 Rose Burl Fugue is nothing short of a work of functional art. Curvaceous yet comfortable, stands apart from the crowd yet at the same time approachable and familiar. This guitar feels effortless in hand, from the multiscale setup (24.7-25.7”) to the lightweight build and cutaway ergonomics. The neck and body are perfectly balanced to play off your leg when seated, and Tyler’s handsomely executed single bass offset soundhole broadcasts cleanly straight into the player’s ear. Acoustically, the Fugue has impressive presence and range, and would record very well on that level alone. When amplified with a Parallelogram Kent Armstrong humbucker (volume and tone under the Burl pickguard), the tone rolls out fat and round with fingers, and responds beautifully with added crispness and punch under a flatpick attack.
The body is Flame Maple, here paired with a carved Sitka Spruce top and a 4-piece Flame Maple neck with carbon fiber reinforcement. Black ABS bindings, and Bodega Bay driftwood burl appointments throughout give this Fugue its “Burl” designation (with a gorgeous, gorgeous red Nitro burst for the “Rose”).
The LHT Fugue is what successful modern lutherie looks like: pushing the envelope without forgetting its roots, exploring contemporary aesthetics with an eye for ease of play and an ear for dynamics.Other keywords: kent parker, arched top, jazz guitar, fan fret, fanned fret, 3007, ska, flamed maple, duane simpson

Understated elegance, and comfort; this guitar is a polyphonic playground. An Archtop sporting a soundport, that not only gives you “a little more of me in the monitor,” it also gives you a glimpse into the beautiful construction of this instrument. A classic combination of Maple and Spruce, with all the modern creature comforts. While this guitar may be built as an all-acoustic archtop, it is still quite electrifying. A first for us here at the shop from Zach Lefebvre, a brand new TreeHouse Blue Ember. It’s rare to find such unique instruments, where form certainly follows function so well. A whole lot of tone, and even more character. The back and sides’ hue harkens back to custom Stratocasters of the late 50s and early 60s, with an incredibly visually pleasing stain on top. The single coil tone combined with its acoustic resonance makes for an intriguing and fantastic musical experience. Maple for the back and sides, Adirondack Spruce on top.

All the way from 1958, we have a Gibson ES-175D. This sunburst hollowbody beast is crafted entirely from Maple, with a Mahogany neck and a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. Add to Compare2018 BC Kingston 17″ Archtop, European Curly Maple/Haida Gwaii Sitka Spruce
We’re excited for the chance to offer you a dynamite custom archtop from the venerable Brian Kingston of Prince Edward Island, Canada. AAA European Curly Maple back and sides paired with a hand carved Haida Gwaii Sitka Spruce top (bearing gorgeous and rare flamed figuring), bound F holes, and an exquisite sunburst in ambers, yellows, and browns across both neck and body. A generous 17 inches across the lower bout with a play weight of six pounds, this Kingston feels solid in hand, with a glossy neck profile and upper bout soundport to boot. A custom Seymour Duncan pickup with volume and tone knobs under the pickguard carries this beauty faithfully into amplified territory, but it’s equally at home as an acoustic archtop with a crisp treble definition and articulate midrange. Brian built this one in 2018 for the shows, and we’re proud to offer it now as a new instrument with a little age to liven up the voice.

The result of masters from two fields in collaboration: luthiers Dale & Tyler Unger and hyperrealist painter Peter Maier. The Ram is a particular brand of unique—17 inch archtop whose Maple back is adorned with a hyper realistic ram from Maier. On top, a gold motif continues along the center seam and with the trapeze tailpiece and hardware, plus gold Gotoh mini tuners. The headstock boasts a tightly figured Koa headplate, and from there you’ll find a series of vibrant Abalone position markers along the fretboard. Here’s a snapshot of Maier’s process: https://youtu.be/5AN01qUDxbw. On the electronics front, Unger outfitted the Ram with a Kent Armstrong floating humbucker plus volume and tone at the pickguard (itself featuring a single band of gold that arcs diagonally across). Top is AAAA European Spruce, paired with AAAA European Maple for the back and sides. Flame Maple neck, set off with the Ebony fingerboard, completes the portrait. Here’s Maier: “The Ram guitar was inspired by my time at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where skulls of animals were dominant in many business locations—however I worked gold leaf onto the horns with an engine turned finish to give it more of a costly & valued appearance.”
