A first for us here at the shop from Zach Lefebvre, a brand new TreeHouse Blue Ember. It’s rare to find such unique instruments, where form certainly follows function so well. A whole lot of tone, and even more character. The back and sides’ hue harkens back to custom Stratocasters of the late 50s and early 60s, with an incredibly visually pleasing stain on top. The single coil tone combined with its acoustic resonance makes for an intriguing and fantastic musical experience. Maple for the back and sides, Adirondack Spruce on top.

All the way from 1958, we have a Gibson ES-175D. This sunburst hollowbody beast is crafted entirely from Maple, with a Mahogany neck and a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The ‘D’ in the name designates dual pickups, both of which are original PAF humbuckers. This guitar is all original and carries all the mojo and vibes you’d expect from an instrument of this vintage, especially in the condition it’s in. It’s no surprise that this was the go-to axe for many of jazz guitar’s greats.

Further, indeed. The team at Alembic has been pushing the envelope for years, and that sterling reputation for innovation has led to a community of ardent fans of both basses and electrics. We recently landed one of their Further models from 2015, and we get what all the fuss is about: this is a well-oiled machine capable of handling, well, anything. Purpleheart body with Buckeye top and back laminates; through neck; chrome hardware; and heaps of electronics. The team outfitted this one with volume, three pickup selectors, three filters, effects loop, effects loop bypass, LED position markers—the works. Whew! The through neck is a laminate of Flame Maple, Purpleheart, and Cherry, and is such a strikingly gorgeous number with silky play feel to boot. The fit and finish is flawless from tuners to tail, and we find ourselves struggling to put it down for any real length of time. Weighs in at eight pounds for a solid heft that won’t bow your shoulders: the Alembic Further is the complete package.

We’ve got another gorgeous offering from the workshop of Matt Artinger–a 2015 Venetian Hollow in European Spruce and Mahogany! Between those choice woods and an all-East-Indian-Rosewood neck, this electric guitar is dressed to the nines with an Electric City Artinger humbucker pickup and gold Waverly tuners.
A smoking Jazz machine with the single pickup, this semi-hollow is much lighter than a typical Jazz box, and is easy on the left hand with an oil-finished neck profile and slinky low action. The voice has a gorgeously clear bottom end, with a middle register that has an articulate punch that’s excellent for fingerstyle arrangements and present, crisp trebles. And when we cranked the amp to 11, all that clarity and drive was still there, ready for some Jazzy action!

The Electric City RD59 pickups yield tones that sound great clean or distorted. It also comes in a luxurious faux alligator Cedar Creek case.

A deep cutaway insure that you will enjoy the famous Artinger playability all the way up to the last fret. This guitar has great sustain but is lightweight thanks to the chambered body. There are 3 bevels, one for each point of contact with your body. The handmade ebony tailpiece, bridge and pickguard are nothing short of exquisite. The fretboard plays beyond a dream; effortless. The Mahogany neck features dual carbon fiber reinforcement and Spruce to is flawless.Through an amp, the tone of this guitar could be described as gutsy and round thanks to the Ebony covered Duncan Jazz humbucker. Bill outfitted it with his Steel-Bucker pickups for a strong voice and gave it versatile wiring with a 16 position Vari-Tone swtich. This guitar can move from sparkling clean to mid crunch to full out screaming, whatever your heart desires. The maple neck and Madagascar Rosewood board have a wonderful feel as well. This is a top notch, custom electric from Asher Guitars of California.
