Wayne Henderson and his guitars need little introduction these days. Having built for an army of the best players in the world, both in the southeast where we live and for big names like Eric Clapton, his guitars are now legendary. But why? Tone, that’s why. No maker reaches the highest levels without killer tone. His guitars are an inspiration to play, and limitless in there ability to express musical ideas regardless of genre.
This fine Henderson OM has a super punchy sound, and thick trebles. It has wonderful dynamic range and stands up to hard strumming, all the while retaining the well defined tonal complexity that separates it form the rest of the herd. The neck is extremely comfortable, and makes difficult fingerstyle or single note passages a breeze to play. This is an extraordinary guitar that can deliver anything you ask of it.

We’re thinking that Mr. Clapton was definitely onto something with his recent endorsement of Henderson guitars. This beautiful and responsive Dread offers crystalline highs, gutsy but articulate mids, and a powerful bass that’s strong on the fundamental. The surprisingly light weight of this instrument belies its robust and authoritative tone. It’s responds in kind when played lightly with the fingers. When played hard it’s offers up all the power you could want without a hint of muddiness or ambivalence. What a treat it’s been to spend a little time with this one. What a privilege it would be to hear her open up over time.

We just acquired this amazing Wayne Henderson guitar from it’s original owner who begrudgingly is moving on. This is a WIDE OPEN, VERY LIVELY, guitar that just about jumps off your lap. This is the kind of sound that Eric Clapton just had to have as discussed in the book ‘Clapton’s Guitar: Watching Wayne Henderson Build the Perfect Instrument’. Indian Rosewood and Appalachian Spruce combine for a serious prewar tone. This one has wear, but that’s part of why it sounds so good and the feel is amazing
