2010 Claxton EM-C Brazilian Rosewood/German Spruce
It is an exquisite treat to have this 2010 Claxton EM-C in your hands. The voice is crisp, with added sweetness in the mids and treble for a great mix of warmth and precision; fingerstyle rarely sounds so fine as it does here. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are augmented with gorgeous ink lines and dramatic figure; Spruce on top which has opened up oh so well; silky setup that’s as easy as breathing. How to go wrong with this guitar? The only way we can think is to not play it. Ed has recently retired–congrats, Ed!–meaning there won’t be any more guitars like this coming down the line. All wrapped up in a sturdy Calton case for maximum safety.

We are pleased to present to you a brand new Model No.04 from Dion James. Not only is this instrument beautiful in sight and sound, but also in its construction, which is one of the more unique instruments we have seen in quite some time. Where to begin? Brazilian Rosewood for the back and sides, Sitka Spruce for the top (this Sitka was cut in the 1970s; it’s been well-seasoned). As for the back and sides, this guitar features an active hollow core back, similar to a double top, carbon fiber bridge plate, U brace, elevated fingerboard, and a cylindrically arched top and back. We could go on and on about what all makes this absolute beast of a guitar unique and powerful. From the custom-made Scheller tuners to the captured nut and EcoPoxy-finished neck, and the subtle multiscale of 25.2-25.6”, this guitar is AMAZING. Look and listen for yourself

From the bench of the legendary Lynn Dudenbostel, we have a 2021 000-18 crafted from Honduran Mahogany and Carpathian Spruce. The grain on both the Spruce and Mahogany is staggeringly good, and it’s reflected in the tone — wide spacing at the saddle and nut, EVO frets, and a minimalist, natural aesthetic. The burst is exceptionally well-executed, with a perfectly graduated fade. This is one of those guitars that speaks for itself, and it’s also offered at an excellent price.

A rare treat for us today: a gorgeous 2016 000-42 from Asheville’s own EJ Henderson. Coming from the lineage of her father, Wayne Henderson, Jayne’s been building under her own name for a number of years, honing her craft and building up an impressive body of work–and wait list. Highly figured Black Walnut back and sides with dramatic rippling figure, Red Spruce top (plus dark sunburst), and extensive sparkling Abalone 42-style appointments along the body and position markers. Then we come to the bespoke catfish inlaid in great detail between the G and D tuners at the back of the headstock. Jayne’s inlay skill renders crisp lines and fluid curves, leaning on her eye to match the wavy pattern of each piece of pearl to mirror the scales of the fish. The voice on this 000 is quick and crisp, with a lively string energy that makes for a particularly exciting and enjoyable playing experience. Interested in learning more? Give us a shout!

We love the work of the Fender Custom Shop; they are undoubtedly producing some of the most excellent electric guitars on the market. Considering they are one of the few who wrote the book on what an electric guitar is, this 1955 relic’d reissue feels, looks, and sounds incredible. It features a full neck profile and handwound ’55-style single-coil pickups. This instrument has the quintessential Stratocaster vibes. It’s been relic’d, so you don’t have to baby the finish, and it already feels well-worn and played-in. This is a lot of electric guitar mojo for the price. Dressed in Faded Fiesta Red, this guitar would look and sound good in anyone’s guitar stable. Oh and by the way, it was signed by Stratocaster master John Cruz.

2016 Charles Fox Ergo Noir, Brazilian Rosewood/Alpine Spruce
If you need a guitar that stand head and shoulders out from the crowd, this Ergo Noir from Charles Fox is going to be right up your alley. Charles’ Ergo design manages to make a large guitar feel and play like a much smaller instrument–without sacrificing an ounce of volume and tone. The voice on this Ergo Noir stands out to us here at Dream Guitars, and that takes a lot. There’s a quick and lively quality that’s immediately engrossing, with just a touch of added sweetness in the mids to warm it up and fill it out. The body is engineered with a wedge, elevated fingerboard, cutaway, and soundport to enhance the experience of effortless playability, and features an Alpine Spruce top (painted black) and wildly figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides plus red purflings throughout. A Flamed Mahogany neck terminating at Charles’ bespoke headstock shape, and an access panel at the tail, tie it all together. Ready for a modern addition to your collection? Looking for a flattop that not only plays great, but has a little something extra in the voice that’s unlike the others? This 2016 Charles Fox Ergo Noir is the ticket.
