Darren built this wonderful SJ from rich Koa and Redwood. It’s tone is rich and lush with the buttery redwood voice. The SJ body makes it loud and full sounding and we love the curves. The Koa adds good punch and clarity as well. During construction one hairline crack appeared in the back, which he of course fixed, so Darren is allowing us to offering this guitar at a reduced price, but still with full warranty. This guitar is a stellar example of the work of Minnesotan luthier, Charles Hoffman. The elegant 00 design showcases an unusual and exquisitely beautiful Flamed Mesquite back that is easily one of the most beautiful examples in existence. The 00 has a slim neck that is super easy to navigate, offering up tones that are wonderfully well balanced–and for a guitar of this size, the projection and volume are extraordinary. Featuring a 25 11/32 inch scale, the Hoffman 00 is 1 13/16 inches at the nut. It comes with the original hardshell case. This particular Jumbo features a gorgeous set of Cocobolo Rosewood back and sides and a Sitka Spruce top, granting the guitar a silky sustain in the upper registers. Fingerstylists will love the articulation between the strings; flatpickers will love the big sound and the crispy nature of the low-end. Charlie Hoffman has the experience of building 576 guitars to date. This one is #576, a gorgeous Hoffman SJ guitar in Cocobolo Rosewood and bearclaw Sitka Spruce. The knowledge and intuit that comes from years honing his craft is evident in his instruments. For instance, just look at the materials, he clearly knows how to select premium woods, Cocobolo with stunning grain and color, Flamed Koa for the bindings with deep figure and dark. His also developed wonderful details like the Koa Armrest Bevel here. For the first of our limited edition Dream Series from Charlie Hoffman we asked him to refine this Concert body shape to give it more elegant curves. The result is a stunning body shape that is more modern and sophisticated. The key element of this Dream Series is rare old growth Brazilian Rosewood renowned for it’s clarity, warmth and power. We chose German Spruce make this guitar versatile, German is known for both it’s beautiful voice and it’s projection.
