2018 Röthel Concert Classical, CSA Rosewood/Cedar
Our latest Röthel Concert Classical is quick, lively, and a joy to play. This one is still new to the world (built only last year in 2018), and we’re impressed by how much projection and energy it already possesses. CSA Rosewood back and sides with gorgeous chocolate hues, Cedar on top, and a smoothly contoured neck profile that feels full and familiar in the hand. The build quality is fantastic, Jochen makes sure his guitars are as light as possible (this beauty is just over 3lbs!), and that translates into vibrant tone and easy playability. Comes wrapped up in an equally lightweight but protective BAM case.

2013 Jochen Röthel Classical, Tiger Maple/Spruce
Quick response, an energetic and lively tone, and an incredibly lightweight and resonant build make up this 2013 Concert Classical from German luthier Jochen Röthel. Tiger Maple back and sides (with a striking Rosewood center) and Spruce top, and weighing in at a scant 2lbs 12oz, our Röthel plays effortlessly, and with a warm and punchy bass response that really fills out the voice.

1971 David Rubio Concert Classical, Brazilian Rosewood/Spruce
It’s such a pleasure to have a Concert Classical that’s been played on stage and resonating in the hearts of many an audience since 1971. This David Rubio, originally commissioned by Mike Caruso who has owned it all along, is a prime example of the special alchemy that occurs when a guitar is played in extensively: it is wide, wide awake. Excellent clarity and power across the range, with a crispness in the top end that projects very smoothly. Side dots are a visual creature comfort to aid in lefthand orienteering to boot! The body is classic Spruce over Brazilian Rosewood and weighs in under four pounds. 650mm scale and 52mm nut on a somewhat slender neck profile. This beauty has the marks of a professionally played and maintained instrument, and is in great working shape for its next owner.

2014 Rubio Custom Nylon Archtop African Blackwood/German Spruce
Sawdust from Spruce and Cedar has been in the Rubio family’s blood for generations. With German Vazquez, the blood runs thick: under his hands traditional materials and techniques dovetail into gorgeous instruments for both the eye and the ear. This 2014 Custom Nylon Archtop Crossover is a powerful example of that prowess at work–African Blackwood and German Spruce offer depth and clarity, and the custom C profile neck, with its 14 frets to the body and Venetian Cutaway, is pillow-soft and accessible for the left hand.
For the player craving an artisan-quality crossover nylon, this Rubio is perfect. The play feel of the custom neck will be familiar to any steel string player, just as the rich clarity of the bass strings will be familiar to any classical player. The best of both worlds bound up in one guitar! Rubio french polished the entire guitar for maximum resonance and installed a Fishman Matrix Infinity pickup (with volume and tone controls) to guarantee that you’ll never have to put this guitar down, regardless if you’re at home or on stage.

1967 Rubio Concert Brazilian/Spruce
This great sounding 1967 Jose Rubio classical has all the wonderful character of a well played, welled loved instrument. The mid-range is very prominent, and the overall tone is alive and powerful, with very fast attack. David ‘Jose’ Rubio spent years immersed in the Spanish Tradition and made guitars used by Julian Bream and other prominent players. As an older guitar it has a good amount of finish wear and expert repairs completed somewhere in its past. It is currently stable and ready for years more of music to flow through it. This Brazilian/Spruce Rubio guitar was made in New York and is dated and signed by the maker. A wonderful vintage Rubio with plenty more to say.

2002 G.V. Rubio Hauser Indian/Spruce
This classy German Vasquez Rubio Hauser model guitar sings with authentic tone thanks to the Indian Rosewood back and sides and Spruce top. It is simply a joy to play and listen to; the tone is robust and evenly balanced, covering every end of the tonal spectrum from rich basses to strong mids and highs full of character. 2003 Rubio Santos Cypress/Spruce
German Vasquez Rubio is well known for his great guitars both Classical and Flamenco. Here we have a traditional Flamenco in Cypress and Spruce. This guitar is very strong and clear and it plays like butter. The interwoven rosette and rosewood bindings give it a beautiful, yet sublime character.

This Hauser by G.V. Rubio is lightly built and extremely responsive. Crafted from Brazilian Rosewood and Spruce you get both richness and power. This one has been played so it’s particularly expressive and musical.

2005 G.V.Rubio Flamenco Cypress/Spruce
Here we have a traditional Flamenco Blanca from famed maker G.V. Rubio. Crafted from solid Cypress and Spruce the powerful sound of this instrument fills the room. The traditional friction pegs keep all the tone in the guitar and work perfectly. The action is set perfectly for easy play and that Flamenco growl.
1966 Rubio Concert RARE & COLLECTIBLE Brazilian/Spruce
This is one of the most rare concert guitars built by David Jose Rubio in 1966. The label reads No. 74, Jose Rubio Luthier, Ano. 1966. This would have been built in his Greenwich Village, NY shop in his early years when he was first discovered by Julian Bream. This is an all-original piece of historic significance and amazing tone. It’s easy to see (and hear) why many hold David Jose Rubio in such esteem. This is a very strong guitar that captures a rich, warm Spanish sound, all without abandoning traditional design. This instrument has a voice to satisfy the most demanding performing artist and will surely give its new owner years of joy.

1997 Rubio Flamenco Cypress/Red Cedar
Here we have a traditional Flamenco guitar crafted from Cypress and Spruce featuring a cutaway for full access. This guitar has a quick response and a strong, bright tone. German is a wonderful builder and the construction is top notch throughout. Every detail is well executed and the voice is strong and proud. Playability is superb and every note clear across the entire fingerboard making this one a joy to play.

2004 Rubio Especial Hauser Double Back Brazilian Cedar/German
Rubio has many awards for building superb concert guitar that rival others at twice the price. A few passages on this guitar and you understand what all the fuss is about. Clarity and power mix with Brazilian warmth and color for a complete concert quality voice. The projection and volume are terrific as well and the G string just sings. Here we have a spruce top that has been played and is maturing beautifully.

1999 Ruck Classical, Indian Rosewood/Cedar
Here we have the exemplification of what makes Robert Ruck synonymous with the classical guitar. Built in 1999 this instrument has had a couple of decades to find its voice. The quintessential combination of East Indian Rosewood and Cedar makes for one sonorous musical companion in this Classical model. Equipped with a Sageworks magnetic guitar rest, this instrument is ready for the studio and stage. This instrument has been well cared for and well played. Which it displays in sound and presentation. This instrument has been upgraded to a Calton flight case.

1976 Ruck Flamenco, Spanish Cypress/Spruce
Quick and lively, but with an added element of darkness and bass articulation, this 1976 Flamenca Blanca from Robert Ruck offers a rich playing experience that works for both solo and accompaniment work. Cypress back and sides with Spruce, top, 657mm scale, and Ruck finished the body with catalyzed urethane, electing to save French Polish for the top to promote maximum resonance. Original Ebony friction pegs have been freshly oiled and work fantasticall, contributing to the overlal featherweight construction–this Ruck Flamenco weighs under three pounds.
