In 1998, Boaz and Majkowski embarked on a project to build several Kasha-Schneider Classicals to honor the passing of Majkowski’s teacher, Richard Schneider. The result is something truly unlike anything else out there. The body is constructed with Redwood top—and back—with Brazilian Rosewood sides; the bridge and top thicknesses are engineered to maximize bass response from the left and treble on the right; and the Redwood back is designed to operate as an active speaker diaphragm. Offsetting the soundhole to the sonically dead treble upper bout area frees up the rest of the top to be more optimally braced, and the neck is fretted with Brass to add mass and rigidity, thus minimizing the amount vibrational energy lost in the neck. Gilbert tuners and an Ameritage case round out the package of a one-of-a-kind Classical.

This guitar was built in honor of Richard Schneider, who along with Dr. Kasha worked to develop new bracing and voicing ideas for the modern guitar. What’s very special about this instrument is that Elkayam Boaz partnered with George Majkowski, a long time student of Richard Schneider and they built it in Richard’s shop using his tools. Then they took it to Dr. Kasha’s lab and performed acoustic tests which showed it outperforms earlier instruments. The body is crafted with a Redwood top and back and Brazilian Rosewood sides. The tone is robust with powerful bass notes and a strong and warm midrange. The Berillium Copper Frets make for easy play. This is a very rare Commemorative Edition.

Julius Borges is one of the top names in replicating vintage guitars, play this gorgeous L-00 and you won’t be left wondering why. The term “3d” gets thrown around often when describing the figure of wood, and frequently the wood falls short of the description. That is not the case here with this set of Figured Maple. It is so intensely figured it almost looks like it is made from crumpled up paper! Paired with a straight grain Adirondack (Red) Spruce top, this guitar has head room and power to spare. Play this guitar with a delicate touch and it is instantly ready to respond with clear trebles and mids with warmth not often heard from maple. This is a guitar that will knock your socks off for a lifetime.
