1984 Ramirez 1A La de Camara Brazilian/Cedar
Ramirez guitars are known throughout the world, and have been revered by generations of guitarists. This particular guitar is the Ramirez 1a Camara or De Camera model. This designation indicates that it has an internal fan which Jose Ramirez designed to eliminate wolf tones in the guitar. It really works and this is one of the finest 1A’s we’ve come across. With solid bass and thick mid-range, the voice of this guitar is authoritative but never brash. It is strong, but always refined. A very fine musical instrument indeed!
From the Ramirez website – We call camara an interior fan, also designed by Ramirez, glued in the middle of the sides. It takes away the “wolf” notes, and it helps the sound to be clear, where the notes are perfectly separated between them.

This incredible featherweight Jose Ramirez flamenco guitar from 1959 features a Cypress back and sides and Spruce top for that classic, dry Flamenco tone that so many players crave. It was built by Felix Manzanero. However, the real treat about this guitar is its playability. The action is extremely fast, smooth, and comfortable and this is arguably the best playing flamenco guitar we have in stock! The condition is great for it’s age and it is super responsive and powerful.

It’s such a pleasure to have a Concert Classical that’s been played on stage and resonating in the hearts of many an audience since 1971. This David Rubio, originally commissioned by Mike Caruso who has owned it all along, is a prime example of the special alchemy that occurs when a guitar is played in extensively: it is wide, wide awake. Excellent clarity and power across the range, with a crispness in the top end that projects very smoothly. Side dots are a visual creature comfort to aid in lefthand orienteering to boot! The body is classic Spruce over Brazilian Rosewood and weighs in under four pounds. 650mm scale and 52mm nut on a somewhat slender neck profile. This beauty has the marks of a professionally played and maintained instrument, and is in great working shape for its next owner.

This great sounding 1967 Jose Rubio classical has all the wonderful character of a well played, welled loved instrument. The mid-range is very prominent, and the overall tone is alive and powerful, with very fast attack. David ‘Jose’ Rubio spent years immersed in the Spanish Tradition and made guitars used by Julian Bream and other prominent players. As an older guitar it has a good amount of finish wear and expert repairs completed somewhere in its past. It is currently stable and ready for years more of music to flow through it. This Brazilian/Spruce Rubio guitar was made in New York and is dated and signed by the maker. A wonderful vintage Rubio with plenty more to say.

This is a piece of history, and it sings so sweet. New York’s own Manuel Velazquez built many of the U.S.’s finest Classical guitars from the mid 1900s all the way into the 2000s, and we’ve come across a beautiful example of his work from 1966 with this Concert Classical. Dark, dark Brazilian Rosewood paired with an amber-tinged Spruce top and Rosewood bindings. 650mm scale, 54mm nut, and a lovely playability as confirmed by our repair staff as they inspected the instrument, giving it a clean bill of health. There are some player marks on the top and neck which attest to this Velazquez having been played in handsomely in the past almost 60 years, and it responds easily to a variety of attacks. The bass register is well defined with a warm center, and the trebles pair oh so sweetly.
