2011 Alembic Further, Purpleheart/Quilted Maple
The team at Alembic prepare for every possible application with their Further model. Purpleheart body with a neck-through design (Maple/Purpleheart/Cherry neck); 5A Quilted Maple top; electronics with volume, tone, filters, effects loop, LED position markers; 25.5” scale; Alembic single coil, humbucker, humbucker pickups. Basically, the kitchen sink. With so many options at the taps, this 2011 Further allows you to sculpt your tone like a painter their palette. This one is ready to go wherever you need to go, and the flawless fit n finish plus dynamite woods means you’ll look good while you’re at it. Playability is silk smooth to boot, with a neck carve that’s 0.815” deep at the first fret.

2015 Alembic Further FLG6, Purpleheart/Buckeye
Further, indeed. The team at Alembic has been pushing the envelope for years, and that sterling reputation for innovation has led to a community of ardent fans of both basses and electrics. We recently landed one of their Further models from 2015, and we get what all the fuss is about: this is a well-oiled machine capable of handling, well, anything. Purpleheart body with Buckeye top and back laminates; through neck; chrome hardware; and heaps of electronics. The team outfitted this one with volume, three pickup selectors, three filters, effects loop, effects loop bypass, LED position markers—the works. Whew! The through neck is a laminate of Flame Maple, Purpleheart, and Cherry, and is such a strikingly gorgeous number with silky play feel to boot. The fit and finish is flawless from tuners to tail, and we find ourselves struggling to put it down for any real length of time. Weighs in at eight pounds for a solid heft that won’t bow your shoulders: the Alembic Further is the complete package.

Among the highest of Alhambra’s catalog: the Mengual y Margarit NT model. Built by Javier and José, respectively, in an exclusive small shop within Alhambra, these guitars feature thicker sides for added sustain, allowing the top to be thinned for added volume and power. Here in Indian Rosewood and Cedar, with a Torres-style bracing pattern, and French Polish on top to maximize resonance! Additionally, this beauty features the Ahlambra ErgoNeck, engineered with a slight asymmetry in order to be as easy-playing as possible. This particular beauty is like new from 2020.

Brand New Altman MF5, Maple/Adirondack Spruce
Altman just dropped off this brand new MF5, and already we’re smitten. Red Spruce top over Figured Maple body (ditto for the neck), all finished in varnish for a velvety, hand-rubbed feel in hand. 1 3/16″ nut and a smooth V profile makes for an easy and familiar experience for the left hand. Setup is also easy peasy. We got our own Drew Matulich to put it through its paces, and we’re sure glad we did–he let’s this Altman MF5 sing out! 2000 Altman A 60 PC Black Walnut/Sitka
Bob Altman now makes primarily Mandolins that sell for $9-10K. Guitarist Jonathan Adams of Montana Skies has made his beautiful music on an Altman guitar for years. This Black Walnut guitar has a very unique tone that players with multiple guitars will love. The bass is fast and much bigger than the body size suggests. The treble are wide open and mature with a fat sting to them. This would be a great compliment to any collection of guitar and would surely offer a special voice.

1999 Simon Ambridge Concert Brazilian/Spruce
Simon Ambridge is a English Luthier well known for building worldclass concert guitars. In the late 1980s Simon received a grant from the Crafts Council of Great Britain, the membership of which included Jose Romanillos, David Rubio and Paul Fischer. But you need only play this guitar for a moment to know how he has earned his reputation. This beautiful Brazilian and Spruce Concert model is sublime, powerful and completely musical. The G string sings with lyrical prowess and the voiced is well balanced with strong basses and equally robust trebles. Perfectly maintained by it’s single owner and ready for a new musical partner.
