This 2021 EJ Henderson 00-28 is really making an impression on us here at the shop—we love when less commonly used tonewoods hit this hard. And in the hands of Jayne Henderson, this 00 with Walnut back and sides certainly delivers. Classic 28-style vibes meet superb craftsmanship.

2016 EJ Henderson 000-42, Walnut/Red Spruce
A rare treat for us today: a gorgeous 2016 000-42 from Asheville’s own EJ Henderson. Coming from the lineage of her father, Wayne Henderson, Jayne’s been building under her own name for a number of years, honing her craft and building up an impressive body of work–and wait list. Highly figured Black Walnut back and sides with dramatic rippling figure, Red Spruce top (plus dark sunburst), and extensive sparkling Abalone 42-style appointments along the body and position markers. Then we come to the bespoke catfish inlaid in great detail between the G and D tuners at the back of the headstock. Jayne’s inlay skill renders crisp lines and fluid curves, leaning on her eye to match the wavy pattern of each piece of pearl to mirror the scales of the fish. The voice on this 000 is quick and crisp, with a lively string energy that makes for a particularly exciting and enjoyable playing experience. Interested in learning more? Give us a shout!

At the heart of it all, a pair of EMG JH ‘Het Set’ active pickups deliver the clarity and punch of passives, with a tight attack and clean, controlled low end. 2015 Fender Custom Shop 55 Stratocaster, Ash/Relic Faded Fiesta Red
We love the work of the Fender Custom Shop; they are undoubtedly producing some of the most excellent electric guitars on the market. Considering they are one of the few who wrote the book on what an electric guitar is, this 1955 relic’d reissue feels, looks, and sounds incredible. It features a full neck profile and handwound ’55-style single-coil pickups. This instrument has the quintessential Stratocaster vibes. It’s been relic’d, so you don’t have to baby the finish, and it already feels well-worn and played-in. This is a lot of electric guitar mojo for the price. Dressed in Faded Fiesta Red, this guitar would look and sound good in anyone’s guitar stable. Oh and by the way, it was signed by Stratocaster master John Cruz.

2013 Fender 50th Anniversary ’54 Stratocaster Relic, Aztec Gold
This 2013 Fender Custom Shop “50th Anniversary ’54” Stratocaster, dressed in a relic’d Aztec Gold, is something to look at and, frankly, to listen to. The Stratocaster is one of the most iconic instruments in the world, spanning generations and genres alike. This specimen, however, has an undeniable surf rock vibe to it. Perhaps it’s the illustrious gold hue or even the delightfully oxidized paint from the relicing process. Handwound ’54 single-coil Stratocaster pickups and gold hardware. Incredibly figured birdseye Maple neck and fingerboard. What more could an electric guitarist want?!

Featuring Keyaki back and sides (a signature Fujii tonewood) and a Caucasian spruce top, this guitar is crafted with precision. With EVO frets and a Florentine cutaway, there are many beautiful details in this instrument, from the carved magnetic truss rod cover to the heel cap. We love, love, love this powerhouse 2021 G.6CA from Bryan Galloup. We picked out a fantastically straight-grained Brazilian Rosewood set for the back and sides, which was then paired with Italian Spruce for smoothness and sustain to match the power and dynamic response. A multiscale setup of 26 inches at the bass to 25 at the treble adds a touch of sweetness to the high-end as well. Moreover, this beauty has an arm bevel and a smoothly curving venetian cutaway for added creature comforts.

Brand new at the time of listing, this 2024 Galloup G.6C is dressed in stunning Koa and Cedar. You may be wondering, a Galloup in Cedar? Yes, it’s that rare. Which means this is some seriously fine Cedar for the top. Bryan has rigorous standards for the tops of his guitars, and Cedar rarely makes the cut, so you know this one is special. Reconstructed stone appointments in a lovely mint green provide a striking contrast to the earthy tones of the Cedar and Koa. This guitar features all the qualities we know and love about Galloup guitars, with a fresh twist on materials.
