2008 Brondel A2, Sapele/Carpathian Spruce
A guitar for the long haul: our 2008 Brondel A2 in Sapele and Spruce. This gorgeous piece of lutherie fits the 14-fret 000 niche to a T with a dynamic response, crisp bass, and an affinity to fingerpicked open tunings just as much as flatpicking fiddle tunes in standard. The C neck features a well-rounded carve, the body is bound in Tortoloid, and Laurent’s fit and finish is so clean it’s almost surgical. We’re very impressed by how consistent the sound is, regardless of what style we played in. The top is very energetic, and has some fierce projection that’s tapped with even a light attack.
It’s rare to find a guitar that’s so versatile, but this 2008 Brondel A2 is just that. A great choice for whatever genre suits your fancy today, and tomorrow.

2010 Brondel Essential A2, Walnut/Cedar
Laurent Brondel’s “The Essential” A2 pulls off what so many guitarists crave, but so few find: a dynamic instrument that’s equally at home with picks as fingertips. Walnut back and sides paired with a Cedar top and appointed in a minimalist style, this 2010 A2 offers a pleasing mix of crunch in the bass and juicy definition in the trebles. This guitar projects handsomely, and we tested that while covering up the soundport to make sure we weren’t fooled.
In size, Brondel’s A2 is a 14-fret 000, and this one lives up to the dynamic potential of that workhorse size with a lightweight build. We’re quite impressed by just how many musical directions you can take this Brondel.

2012 Brondel A2 Brazilian/Adirondack (Red)
When a luthier finds an excellent set of Brazilian Rosewood and treats it as lovingly as Laurent Brondel has here, the guitar born from that care and craftsmanship will stand apart, even from other Brazilian Rosewood guitars. The 2012 Brondel A2 we have here is just such an instrument. Make a list of everything you want out of a guitar, and this 000 will probably satisfy every item. There’s sustain for days with that Brazilian Rosewood, and an incredibly complex, deep, warm tone from the body size and Adirondack Spruce top. There’s the perfect setup for flatpicking, and the sensitivity for fingerstyle. There’s an explosive responsiveness and strong, articulate tonal palette across all registers. There’s sweet, balanced overtones in the low-end, and powerful projection. And finally, there’s Brondel’s very well-executed Sunburst Finish. Brondel’s attention to detail is incedible: purfling lines are graceful and handmade, Gabon Ebony bridge is asymmetrically carved, back braces are capped with Brazilian Rosewood. At this price, there really aren’t any other guitars which can compare. This guitar comes with an Ameritage hardshell case.

New Brondel B-2c Cocobolo/Carpathian
Here at Dream Guitars we constantly search for makers that offer something special. We’ve been following Laurent Brondel for several years as he worked at Bourgeois guitars, with Dana Bourgeois and John Slobod and now on his own. At this year’s Montreal Guitar Festival we were wowed by his guitars once again. We just had to bring this little beauty back to Dream Guitars for you, our customers. This Brondel B-2c, is a small body(00) design with simple lines and an elegant aesthetic. It features a cutaway and a fully adjustable neck joint, allowing for neck angle adjustments to insure perfect action at all times. Crafted from gorgeous Cocobolo Rosewood and Carpathis Spruce the voice is rich and vibrant. We are proud to present Laurent Brondel.
2023 Brondel “The 18,” Honduran Mahogany/Red Spruce
This 2023 Brondel “The 18” is where it’s at. There is so much sound and feel with this OM decked out in Honduran Mahogany and Red Spruce. The only thing lacking with this guitar is “wanting.” Traditional appointments offer a glimpse into what it would be like to have a holy grail pre-war Martin guitar when it was brand new. And this one is already firing on all cylinders. A gorgeous sunburst on top and striking Honduran Mahogany for the back and sides make it a fingerstylist’s dream.

2019 ELB Guitars ELBOM-SM39, Madagascar Rosewood/German Spruce
Here’s a powerhouse OM from EddieLee Brown from 2019 that sings out like a well-defined explosion. The bass response has plenty of bite, but doesn’t overpower the voice, and we love how the crisp attack of the trebles balances everything out. This ELB OM is an excellent candidate for the hybrid player who needs equal responsiveness for fingerstyle as well as flatpicking, and the addition of a soundport in the upper bout keeps all that tone dialed in to the player’s ear so you can keep up.
Madagascar Rosewood back and sides is here paired with AAA German Spruce and a 25.4” scale that feels familiar right out of the gate. The Honduran Mahogany neck carve features a generous curve, and the setup is a breeze. 2015 Brown Hauser Classical, Maple/Western Red Cedar
Here’s a gorgeous Classical from Larry Brown’s shop: our 2015 copy of Segovia’s 1937 Hauser I, based on Jeff Elliot’s plans. Birdseye Maple back and sides that Larry found in Michigan, Western Red Cedar top and a Honduran Mahogany neck. French Polish, Schaller tuners, 650mm scale. This beauty is a featherweight at 3lbs 7oz, with a quick attack and projection.

2019 Larry Brown OM-28, Indian Rosewood/Adirondack Spruce
Here’s a dynamite OM from our own Larry Brown! This one is a 28-style with East Indian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce and French Polish that’s one smooth operator. Action a tetch off for you? One twist of the strap button and you can dial in the action precisely where you need it with Larry’s adjustable neck pocket. Gold Grover tuners, tortoise style tuners, and a 25 1/4” scale for a touch extra warmth in the bass. Larry finished the Mahogany neck in half satin, and boy does it feel silky to the touch.

With a 23 inch scale, this petite powerhouse is string light and tuned up to G. It’s a super fun flatpicker with a quick and chirpy response that sets it apart from the standard Dreadnought camp. This one also features Larry’s adjustable neck pocket, so one turn of a screwdriver will have the action dialed up or down to your needs, as needed, every time.

We just picked up a new L-00 from Larry Brown that he built in 2016 and has kept in his shop since then. So we’ve got a brand new guitar that’s also got a few years of opening up already out of the way! Striped Mahogany back and sides with an Adirondack Spruce top, Varnish finish, Pau Ferro bridge, and Larry’s hallmark adjustable neck block (one twist of the “strap button” at the heel, and you can dial in the action precisely where you want it).

New Brown SJ-200, Figured Maple/Torrefied Adirondack Spruce
We’re proud to announce our latest partnernship—this time with local luthier Larry Brown—with six incredible guitars from L-00 copies and Dreadnoughts to SJs and Classicals.
Powerful, loud, and playing like butter—Larry Brown’s SJ-200 is the complete package. Based on Gibson’s 1939 Super Jumbo specs, this guitar has North Carolina-harvested Curly Maple back, sides, and neck, and a Torrefied Adirondack Spruce top with tasty sunburst. Custom engraved pickguard, Grover Art Deco tuners, and hot hide glue construction throughout. The neck has a slim 1 23/32” nut for deft lefthand work, and with Larry’s fully adjustable neck angle you can keep the setup dialed in as slinky or aggressive as you like! This big ole box packs a wallop, but plays as easily as a much smaller instrument. If you want that Super Jumbo sound and feel, but with modern amenities for setup, look no further!

This Dread has a fully adjustable neck angle (accessed by a bolt on the outside of the heel), so say goodbye, neck reset! You can dial the setup in on a whim with just a flick of the wrist. The voice has a dry, crisp flavor as though it were a vintage piece, and it’s a great choice for flatpicking with power, be it Bluegrass, Country, or beyond.
