For our limited edition Dream Series from Charlie Hoffman we worked with him to refine this Concert body shape to give it more elegant curves. The result is a stunning body shape that is more rounded and elegant. The key element of this Dream Series is rare old growth Brazilian Rosewood renowned for it’s clarity, warmth and power. The set on this one is stunning! Be sure to look at the photos. This one is topped with Italian Spruce so it offers great versatility and lovely overtones. Hoffman guitars are always super easy to play and built to last for years.

Jordan McConnell pulls off one of the most inspiring voices on the market today. This amazing 16 Inch was originally custom built for a client of ours in 2012 who insisted on the gorgeous set of Brazilian Rosewood back and sides that you see here. The German Spruce provides McConnell’s legendary clarity, and the Satinwood bindings tie this gorgeous package tight together. From the multiscale neck to Jordan’s specialty-modified bracing system, this 16 Inch shares the stage with very few other guitars of its calibre. You’re going to want to play this guitar; trust us. And never put it down.

This is a rare Brazilian Rosewood, Flamed Redwood McPherson MG-5.0XPH guitar. It is the top of the line that McPherson makes and we are thrilled to have this one in mint condition. Once glance at the pictures and you’ll see this is some of the finest wood you could make a guitar out of. The Redwood top is just stunning, with figure beyond compare. The Brazilian Rosewood is dramatic and rich in color. Bound with flamed Koa this is one eye-catching guitar. The voice is as rich and full with the trademark McPherson shimmer on top. This guitar is exquisite played fingerstyle and powerful when strummed and it’s equipped with a Baggs pickup system, so it’s as versatile as it is beautiful…

This is a very rare Wayne Henderson J-45 style slope-shoulder dreadnought guitar. Cavernous bass response and bold trebles are what you get in this 2006 Henderson. Mahogany and Spruce whittled to vintage perfection by Wayne Henderson. A real tortoise guard and cream bindings complete the authentic spirit of this sweetheart!

If we had to count our favorite traditional builders on one hand, John Slobod would be one of the first fingers on the list. John’s instruments are built with a lifelong passion that’s honed by his wonderful ear and razor’s edge lutherie skills. It should come as no surprise that we’re head over heels for this 2007 Circa Dreadnought with 28-style appointments, Madagascar Rosewood, and Adirondack Spruce. The setup is responsive and easy: you can dig in with a pick without fighting the action. John’s carved out a sweet spot for the bass response with plenty of articulation and just enough boom to fill out the room. It’s hard to find a more responsive, expertly crafted, and just downright fun to play dread than from John Slobod’s Portland, Maine workshop.

This 2012 Dreadnought from Jordan McConnell is, simply put, a powerhouse. Strength, this guitar has in spades, and balanced from bass to trebles for both the fingerstylist and the flatpicker. Bruce and Matt Petros designed their crossover model to appeal to steel string players wanting to explore nylon and it also appeals to nylon players who prefer the narrower neck profile. This beautiful hybrid guitar is crafted from Bolivian rosewood which tonally pairs wonderfully with the warmth of the Engelmann spruce top. Appointments include an Amboyna Burl rosette and matching tuner buttons. There is also a cutaway to allow access all the way up the neck. The neck profile is slender with dimensions of 1 3/4″ or 45 mm and the Petros shallow depth. There is also a Fishman pickup for performance. This is a guitar with lots of appeal.

One of lutherie’s too-soon-taken virtuosos, Lance McCollum has left us with a legacy of powerfully expressive instruments to remember him by. This 2006 Grand Auditiorium is no less than perfect: from the exquisitally-flamed Koa back and sides to Lance’s advanced bracing designs and lightweight build. With skills like these, it’s no surprise that McCollum built instruments for contemporary masters like Alex DeGrassi, Todd Hallowell, and others! This Grand Auditorium features a Red Cedar top to complement all that Koa, and the result is a voice that expertly balances warmth and articulation, making this a superb instrument for the flatpicker who wants more color in his arrangements, which the ole’ Dread just can’t provide. You can see on the label that Lance viewed his work as “Functional Sculpture,” and it’s clear that he took the tasks of voicing, bracing, and trimming purfling very seriously: the craftsmanship is flawless.

Capable of handling lowered tunings like DADGAD with ease, this GA is an excellent contender for Irish accompaniment, and with it’s smaller body you won’t have to worry about fatigue for many long hours. The previous owner of this instrument had a delicate touch: there is virtually no play wear on this obviously well-played-in guitar–and it comes with a hardshell TKL case to make sure it stays that way.

It’s hard to believe this Bozung Herringbone Dreadnought guitar is a virtual newborn. Designed in the style of a 1930’s Martin D-28, it’s got the voice of a mature statesman, and is a bluegrasser’s dream with the 1 11/16″ nut width and incredible projection, care of the old growth Brazilian back and sides. The wide grain Sitka top provides sweetness and plenty of treble chime, and will only sweeten over time. This would also make a great singer/songwriter’s instrument.

This is the real deal! A 1940 Gibson L-00, Black with a Firestripe pickguard. Just classic! This one is all original, with superb playability and no issues whatsoever. The mahogany/spruce body puts forth that sought after Gibson small body growl and this is a great fingerpicking guitar. Just listen to Al, play the ragtime on her! Here is a Langejans BR6, cutaway Dreadnought guitar featuring Brazilian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce as well as a solid Rosewood Neck. Del Langejans has retired now so we are extremely happy to have this beautifully ornate example of his fine work. Dove inlays, a lovely Rose inlaid on the headstock and bridge inlays all add to the natural beauty of the woods to give this one a wonderful appeal. With it’s zero fret the action is low and easy to play and the voice is rich and alive. It also comes with a K&K UltraPure pickup system with built-in preamp. A very collectable and playable Langejans guitar.

Luthier Paul Daniel McGill is known for his creative designs inside and out on his guitars. This guitar is dubbed the Picasso and it is certainly creative and unique like it’s namesake. The offset cutaway and soundhole offer an artistic facade and the voice is as bold as the look. The 7 fan bracing produces thunderous bass and soaring trebles with Paul’s trademark clarity throughout. The back & sides are rare and stunning African Black Wood with dramatic sapwood sections. This wood adds beauty for the ear as well for the eye. The top is lovely German Spruce with strong silking and a mature patina. A true work of art!

Mervyn Davis has created a fresh and exciting guitar design that is not only artistic and eye-catching but completely musical and practical. His Smoothtalker SSC2 design concept features very stiff back and sides, not unlike what many modern makers are doing these days, and a fan braced Spruce top that because of the body design is extremely lively and responsive. Soundports in the waist and near the neck flood the player with the beautiful voice.

**Watch Bella Fleck playing his Smoothtalker, click here!

The result of this design is an instrument with serious projection and extreme clarity. The trebles strings simply soar, with more density and volume than the average guitar. The bass is focused and clear also with profound power. The Smoothtalker is extremely versatile and well suited for Blues, Jazz and any style where a strong fundamental and power are required. We even had fun playing classical and Flamenco on it. The Smoothtalker also comes outfitted with a Baggs Active Element so it’s ready for the stage. This is an inspirational design straight from South Africa.

Stephen Kinnaird is one of our regular builders and we love the voice of his instruments. This FSC-12 model is his Fingerstyle body shape. The 00 body size makes for superb balance and clarity, but we are hear to tell you this little guitar is strong as well. The treble strings are deep and full and the Cuban Mahogany and Red Cedar top offer up both growl and beauty depending on how you attack it. There is a wonderful dark burst on the top back and sides that really shows off the deep curl of the Cuban Mahogany. This is a keeper for some lucky player!

This one is also completely custom with features that include his Internal Resonator Rim with a Phenolic back, Grenadillo tone ring, Contoured Neck shape, Boat Heel, Scooped Fingerboard, Carbon Fiber reinforced neck, French Polish Finish. Dave Ball also adorned this one with his full Fish Inlay theme on the entire fingerboard, it’s is gorgeous. We particularly like the Internal Resonator design, it makes for a mellower, more woody tone that is very compelling.

Here we have a virtually unplayed 2012 Olson SJ in his classic Indian Rosewood and Cedar combination. The particular top on this Small Jumbo has lovely striping to it that is really beautiful, but it also has a bit of a fuller treble voice than we usually see in an Olson. Melody notes come out round, lush and very compelling. The bone saddle may be adding some mojo as well, the LB6 pickup was removed for just that reason. This one comes with a now rare, Dream Guitars Calton Flight case in Van Deusen Blue as well. Elegant in every way.
