There are quite a few travel guitar varieties been made right now, but this Little Jane by Furch really hits the tonal mark with solid Cedar and Mahogany. Although it is small in size, it is not small in sound. Everyone who has played it in the shop agrees that such a small guitar shouldn’t be able to make such a full sweet sound, but it does, and it’ll fit in the overhead compartment of an airplane. Full marks for this little Furch, If you are traveling soon and need a guitar to take with you, look no further.

With a background in building guitars for McPherson and in designing the acoustic line for Paul Reed Smith, Steve Fischer has honed his lutherie skills to razor-sharp with the introduction of his own line of Steve Fischer Guitars. His exceptional talent is ever-present in this Moderna nylon crossover, made with gorgeous Madagascar Rosewood and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. The sweet, focused tone of the Cedar top is immediately evident, and is complimented perfectly by the Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, creating a voice that’s both utterly musical and authoritative. The narrower neck and radiused fingerboard make this an ideal instrument for the steel string player wanting to expand their collection with a nylon string.

Dake Traphagen is one of the most sought-after classical builders in America, and this lovely Cordoba model in Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood is a fine example of why. Balance, projection, and string articulation are hallmarks of Traphagen classicals, and the voice of this gem is fully open, with snappy bass tones and just the right amount of treble cut. An excellent value for a Brazilian Traphagen.

Here we have a Boaz concert model in Indian Rosewood and Spruce that projects beautifully and offers a complex voice full of treble sweetness and rich, full bass. The craftsmanship is superb, as we’ve come to expect from one of the most revered classical builders in the world, and the lyrical voice of this guitar is sure to inspire players of all skill levels.

Well, this is a first for us: we’ve never had a Mountain Song Odalisque come up for sale on the preowned market before! That alone should speak to the quality of this instrument, but humor us with a more thorough treatment (we do like talking about guitars, after all).

Dramatically figured Claro Walnut back and sides, Carpathian Spruce top, the interlocking rosette that Ken Jones has perfected, arm and rib bevels, Cosmo Black Gotohs—the list goes on. The voice is balanced between quick trebles and a warm lower mid response; the bass is focused. Responds well to a light touch, and if you dig in a bit the projection ramps up a lot. A natural choice for fingerstyle in standard tuning, DADGAD, or beyond.

Ken recently went over this 2013 Odalisque and gives it a clean bill of health. Fit and finish remains flawless. This is a rare opportunity to own a rare bird; who knows the next time another Mountain Song Guitar will be available?

This is custom Buscarino Cabaret that we had built specially for us here at Dream Guitars! It is no small secret that we love the Cabaret model, it is in our minds the most successful crossover classical guitar. There hasn’t been a Cabaret that has come through the shop that has not been exceptional. What we wanted to do with this custom order was condense all of the good qualities of all of the Cabarets we have seen into one ultimate guitar that would fulfill the needs of our clients and then some. Built from choice Quilted Maple with Curly Koa Bindings and an Engelmann Spruce and Cedar Double Top, this Cabaret combines top quality woods and design. Tonally this guitar falls in the perfect sweet zone, the Engelman top face provides complexity and overtones while the Cedar underface provides warmth and richness, all reigned in and equalized with the carved maple back. Another of the great features we wanted to add to this Cabaret was the Barbera pickup which gives an accurate representation of the acoustic tone while eliminating basically all feed back when plugged in. John certainly delivered with this Cabaret, this is the ultimate.

Here’s a fine example of of the mainstay of the Martin fleet — a 1975 D-28 in Indian Rosewood and Sitka spruce. Nearly forty years of gentle use has really allowed this guitar time to fully open up and blossom. Trebles has plenty of chime and sparkle while the trademark Martin bottom end packs a whallop that can be heard across a room full of banjo pickers. This guitar is in great shape for it’s considerable age.

This was a one-of-a-kind custom Kathy Wingert Model E Dream Series built for a client of ours. But we just had to show it off! What a work of art on every level and the sound is every bit as artistic. Simply sublime.

Call us to order a Kathy Wingert guitar. We love custom builds!

Here we have a Thomas Rein RJN-3C in Lutz Spruce and Cocobolo Rosewood. Thomas builds his guitars with a complex voice perfectly suited to intimate fingerstyle pieces. Every string has character and adds to one another creating a dynamic tone that is thoroughly pleasing to listen to. The intonation is perfect here, Thomas compensated at the saddle and the nut which creates a beautiful and even intonation across the fingerboard. Playability this good is rarely seen, from the neck shape to the action, all is effortless and affords hours of playtime. This is a gem of a guitar, perfectly thought out with the player in mind.

To say this guitar is rare is an understatement. This Martin Limited Edition D-50 in Brazilian Rosewood and Bearclaw Sitka Spruce is truly a remarkable achievement. Number 2 of 50, this guitar is as much art object as instrument, but if you dared take it to the Feed ‘n Seed for a pickin party, the voice would hold it’s own against more seasoned instruments. Lush, tight basses are easily coaxed from this beauty, along with well defined mids and trebles with just the right chime and sparkle. But let’s be honest, this show-stopper should be enjoyed in the climate-controlled comfort of a private listening room with excellent lightling, so all the intricate nuances of the abundant inlay can be fully appreciated. The extensive use of abalone, outlined in mother-of-pearl, represents the pinnacle of fine craftsmanship by the team at Pearl Works, under the watchful eye of legendary inlay artist, Larry Seifel, before his untimely passing. The Tree of Life motif is brilliantly executed, flowing gracefully up the fingerboard onto the headstock, while abalone purflings wrap around all edges. Comes with letter of authentication and custom leather-bound case with built-in analog hygrometer.

Here’s a top of the line Huss & Dalton TOM-R in Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce. The classic wood combination that made all those wonderful pre-war Martin Guitars sound so amazing. This one has been played enough so that it is now mature and very strong. There’s a well compensated saddle and the setup is great. What a player!

As an apprentice for the legendary English master luthier, Stefan Sobell, Nigel Forster learned not only how to build impeccably crafted instruments, but he also learned the elusive art of voicing an instrument to bring out the finest qualities inherent in the materials. In 2004, he started NK Forster Guitars, and got to work producing his own amazing guitars and bouzoukis. His skills are on fine display with this fantastic bouzouki in Cocobolo and Flamed Redwood. It’s got amazing projection and a sweet woody tone that’s just perfect for Celtic-style ensembles. The Cocobolo is of the highest quality, and could easily be mistaken for Brazilian.

Here we have a Boaz concert model that offers excellent note articulation along with a powerful voice. The gorgeous trebles and big bass make for a full and vibrant response. This is the kind of guitar a player can fall in love with and one that will inspire every note. Crafted from fine Brazilian Rosewood and topped with Spruce, this instrument gives the player a broad palette of tones and color and wonderful dynamics as well.

Here we have an absolutely dreamy Erich Solomon Phoenix archtop in European Flamed Maple and Sitka Spruce. Solomon has been hand-building guitars one at a time in beautiful New Hampshire since 1995, at first in the style of the classic D’Angelico 17″ body design, but since the early 2000’s, he’s striven to express himself with a unique style that reflects his own design sensibilities. One look at this Phoenix is all it takes to see that he’s really onto something — the exaggerated carved undulations carry the eye all over it’s surface, and the pale beauty of the Euro Flamed Maple is utterly intoxicating. What’s more, the tone and playability of this great instrument are second to none.

Here we have an excellent archtop guitar in Redwood and Walnut from builder, Michael Lewis. It’s obvious this one’s been played, judging by the openness of the voice. It’s remarkable how sweet this instrument sounds played acoustically, but when plugged-in, the true beauty of it’s voice, as well as the quality of the Bartolini pickup, really shines through. Sweet, fat, and mellow are all apt descriptors, and surely this guitar has seen many a late-night jazz club jam session. Additionally, the satin-finished walnut neck feels superb in-hand.

The Merrill family is well know for building strong Dreadnought guitars that can light up a room. Well here we have their first ever Relic C-18, a powerhouse featherweight that will knock your socks off! Built on faithful 1937 D-18 specs with a hand carved neck and braces, hot hide glue, Red Spruce and Ancient Honduras Mahogany. They even went so far as to find the authentic Sea Snail dot inlays, Brown tortoise celluloid for the binding and end-wedge, Cloth side reinforcement strips, etc. We think this guitar came out amazing, it really looks and sounds like it’s been played for 70+ years. Well done!

**NOTE: This one sold before we could even list it, but call us today and we can get Jim and the gang to make one just for you! We are now proud to offer Merrill Guitars here at Dream Guitars!

Here’s a gorgeous Blue National Reso-phonic Delphi from 2001. This is the classic steel body, single cone resonator with Nationals more modern finish that is hassle free. No polishing needed, just play it hard. Perfect for slide or fingerstyle, everyone needs to have at least one National guitar.

Here’s a very cool and very pretty 2001 National Reso-Phonic Resolectric in beautiful translucent blue green burst. This one was built around the time that National made the final updates to this model, so it includes the Highlander Bridge pickup for the resonator and a Jason Lollar P-90 as well so it easily goes from single cone twang to screamin’ blues solos. Of course it’s great for slide work as well. Everybody from Joe Perry of Aerosmith to Ben Harper play these babies. Get in on some of the fun!

Here we have a virtual cannon of a small-bodied guitar with this very rare ’31 Martin 0-28 in Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood. These amazing little guitars represent one of the best values in the vintage market today.

Here is a completely custom Paul McGill Concert with his clever ‘short shoulder’ cutaway design as featured on his Picasso model guitars. This one also has a stunning carved backstrip that is raised for dramatic effect. The body is Cocobolo Rosewood topped with Spruce which, combined with Paul’s voicing, puts forth great projection and warm, articulate notes capable of tremendous emotion and power. This is a complete guitar.

This rare and boisterous Schneider boasts some of the most unique and innovative bracing ever seen in the guitar world: Kasha style bracing. Schneider’s Kasha bracing takes a step from the traditional, but the flying buttresses, chaotic bracing pattern and a little black magic bring about astounding results in this guitar. The Premium Grade Redwood top and back pair with ultra rigid Brazilian Rosewood sides to give this instrument a powerful, sustaining sound that projects with gusto. In voice, it is inspiring – the bass rolls out with ease, followed by full, strong mids and great, punching and sustaining trebles. It is equal parts professional instrument and masterwork objet d’art. One you simply won’t want to miss.

This beautiful Ramirez 1a de La Camara has it all: the looks, the voice, the strength, and the versatility you always dreamed of in a concert guitar, and with the name to back it up. Striking Figured Indian Rosewood and Master Grade Cedar pair to create a rich, full, mature tone that is ideal for intimate, solo playing. Thanks to the proprietary “camera” internal fan, notes are clear and distinct, with excellent balance and sustain in every register. This stunning Ramirez 1a is one you won’t soon forget…

This is an instrument that conveys the entire music world’s appreciation for a man whose story and songs inspired and touched so many other lives. Nick Kukich of Franklin Guitars is a master luthier with an incredible ear. Every Franklin that finds it’s way to Dream Guitars seems to embody that “Holy Grail” Prewar Martin voice, and this awesome OM in super-silky Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood follows that trend. In fantastic condition for its age, the voice is clear, brilliant, and open, with that distinctive vintage flavor that makes it a great instrument for recording. With the addition of a pickup, this would also make an excellent gigging guitar. Dramatic ink lines in the sides look very much like Brazilian.
