We are proud to announce that we now represent Avalon Guitars from Ireland! This Avalon L-25C is a handmade Jumbo with familiar lines and feel of a great Irish guitar. The Cedar/Rosewood combination is a favorite here at Dream Guitars and this is a fine example. The L25 has a lovely satin finish over the entire guitar, which feels very smooth in your hands, particularly on the neck. The fingerboard and tuning buttons, both ebony, along with the intentional lack of fret markers (side dots only) give this one a dignified simplicity and let’s the wood speak for itself. The sound is big, even, and woody, and will surely satisfy both fingerpickers and strummers alike.

We are proud to announce that we now represent Avalon Guitars from Ireland! The Avalon L-320B comes from their Arc line of guitars and features an Armrest Bevel and Demi Cutaway for superb comfort and playability. The Armrest Bevel not only eliminates the pressure in the forearm, but lowers the shoulder so you can play all day in comfort. The Demi Cutaway design allows access to the higher frets, but retains more air volume inside the guitar. Plus both features make this L Model look great! Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce create a classic Irish voice and the satin finish makes this one feel like an old friend. The neck is fast and easy and sound is all Jumbo, big bass, sparkling highs, perfect for fingerstyle or strumming.

This Avalon d300a is a treat to play and listen to. The finely quartered Mahagony back and sides which gives it a nice warmth. Combined with a Spruce top, this one has a lovely overtone presence almost reminiscent of a Rosewood guitar. The strings remain distinct and even up and down the fingerboard with a nice sparkle on the high strings. It has handled everything we threw at it, from finger picking to strumming. Fretting for fingerstyle or flatpicking both feel at home here. That vintage vibe is easy on the eyes as well. The sunburst Mahogany and Spruce are eye catchers for sure, and would be right at home in the 1930’s.

Tim McKnight builds an instrument that is intended to speak to and move the player, inspiring and encouraging you to be more expressive and write new songs. This 2009 Slope McKnight is made with Reclaimed Brazilian Rosewood and Carpathian Spruce, making it a true top-of-the-line model both in woods and in tone. The McKnight is a body shape and style that is respectful of tradition, but this one has additional features like the carved soundport and modern bracing design that enhance the player’s experience while maintaining outward projection. The bass and trebles balance melodiously over smooth, even mids, making this an ideal instrument for both personal play and group sessions, whether finger picked or strummed.

Petros Guitars are world renowned for their fullness, balance, and precision. This Applecreek Grand Concert in Premium Sitka Spruce and deep, rich East Indian Rosewood has killer bass, with shimmering highs and reactive, round mids. It has excellent response and control, whether lightly plucked or played full-tilt. If you’ve been looking for a pristine Petros at an ideal price point, this is the one for you. Come give it a try!

Here is a beautiful McCollum Grand Auditorium that is a work of art that also plays wonderfully. The fine, straight grain of the Master Grade Redwood top resonates with power and grace, and the contrasting hues of the Claro Walnut back and sides is absolutely stunning. These tone woods are a perfect match for each other and give this instrument a confident voice that commands attention. The colorful Abalone and Mother of Pearl appointments, along with the Gold Hardware and Dyed Wood lines really set this instrument apart. You’ll never tire of playing, or simply admiring this guitar!

Custom built for one of our our own, this 2013 McConnell 16 Inch is everything (and more) that we’ve come to expect from Jordan’s shop: absurdly precise note separation, bracing depths, as flawlessly balanced as it is constructed. Seriously nice Brazilian Rosewood make up the back and sides, paired with a German Spruce top for creamy sustain, and everything is trimmed in eye-popping Snakewood (from the bridge to the headstock and everywhere in between, right down to the fretboard itself!).

Wrapped up with Jordan’s exciting marquetry across the rosette, fingerboard extension, and heel–and Snakewood-capped Alessi tuners–this 16 Inch screams elegance and rich potential. Oh, to play this guitar: it is an exercise in futility to put it down after the first strum. We put it through its paces with DADGAD and CGCGAD; no problems. The basses remained crisp and resonant, and those trebles continued to cut like a sushi chef’s knife. We’d advise you to jump on this while you can, ‘cuz it’s not long before someone else swoops in and snatches this work of art up for themselves!

If you’re intersted in how great a classical guitar Jordan can build in addition to his steel string models, check this one out! https://www.dreamguitars.com/shop/2001-mcconnell-classical-wood-wood.html.

Here’s a video of Jordan McConnell himself playing this beauty! https://youtu.be/toot_xwPOT0

Froggy Bottom Guitars makes some of the most respected traditional American instruments on the market, faithfully recreating a guitar that, from the feel and sound of it, you would swear had been maturing for decades. The stunning, straight grained Adirondack Spruce top gives this instrument incredible headroom and presence. Combine that with a slightly deeper body and beautiful, chocolatey Brazilian Rosewood, and you have a guitar with focus and sweetness and warmth. With bass that, unless you’re looking down as you play, you would swear belonged to a much larger guitar, this welterweight instrument can keep up with even the heavy hitters. Comes with a Calton Flight Case.

When Paul Woolson built this guitar, he put a check next to every option on the list! We’re looking at a 2010 DM-6 all-Mahogany OM with: Mahogany double top, soundport, demi cutaway, elevated fingerboard, armrest, and K&K Pure Mini, which is quite a mouth full. Add all of these features up, and you’ve got a fabulously well-balanced instrument in your hands that’s perfect for, well, everything!

With the shorter scale length (at 25 inches), fingerstyle arrangements are effortless to pull off (or hammer on), and we found that everything from Jazz and Country to tunes from the CandyRat repertoire sounded even, rich, and clear. With the soundport, you’ve got all that sweet tone projected right to your ears, and the raised fretboard extension and demi cutaway help to make the entire fretboard accessible for your fretting pleasure.

This Dyer (Larson Brothers) style 5 Harp guitar is a testament to their legend. In the early twentieth century the Larsons were at the forefront of harp guitar construction. Till this day their instruments are still sending ripples through the guitar world. At over a century old the Spruce top, and Mahogony back and sides are just raring to sing. As a standard six string it has an extraordinarily warm, well balanced voice. Throw in the sub bass though, and you have something truly special. Those five extra bass strings lend a full sonorous sound, and it’s magical. The playability of this guitar is superb. The V shaped neck and low action make it a joy play.

The Olson SJ is a world renowned instrument, known for its dense, sparkly highs, incredible midrange, and that “James Taylor Sound.” Well here we have one that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor: with dynamite Sitka Spruce and absolute Primo Koa, this is an Olson that looks as good as it sounds! When Jim’s incredible voicing meets tonewoods like these, the result is a guitar that you’ll spend half your time playing and the other half staring at in wonder.

This Kirk Sand Rosewood Model electric nylon guitar is the definition of versatile. It is surprisingly loud unplugged, with a present bass and crisp trebles. Plugged in though, is where this guitar shines. The Barbera Soloist Pickup lends a warm tone, and the onboard EQ gives the player plenty of room for adjustment. It plays like an electric guitar, smooth as silk. The craftsmanship and woods are top notch as well. The Cocobolo back and sides are a wonderful chocolatey hue. The Spruce top is tight grained, and aged to a nice amber shade. This one is ready for the stage…

The Custom Shop at Martin Guitars is making some fine instruments. This Custom Martin Slope D in Madagascar Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce (Madi/Adi) is a superb example. We all just fell for the big and beautiful voice of this sweetheart. This is not your average Martin, it has a really special and unique voice, big bass that’s warm and round and fat, juicy trebles that can handle everything from flatpicking to fingerstyle. The 12 Fret neck and slot head further add to it’s distinctive look and sound. Very cool.

This fine Circa Dreadnought was custom made for one of our clients, so it isn’t for sale presently, but you can order one of your own to your tastes! Give us a call or message and we’ll be happy to talk to you about how you can get your very own custom instrument made by John Slobod or any of our other fine luthiers.

This 1957 Martin D-28 is a well preserved classic, with it’s aged Sitka Spruce top and super straight-grained, perfectly quartered Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. The kind of wood we just dream about these days. The smooth “V” neck makes for effortless playing, and the voice is the classic sound we all associate with the Martin guitar – smooth, present highs, not overly bright, with a rich, woody bottom end. You don’t see many of this vintage in this kind of condition. It’s like an old friend whose wisdom and experience you can rely on year after year. Collector or picker, this is the good stuff!

This is a rare Steve Klein M.43 in excellent condition. Steve is not building at this time, but is well known for making instruments for Joni Mitchell, Michael Hedge, Steve Miller, Andy Summers & Sting! The M.43 body is 16 3/4″ at the lower bout but it’s easy to hold sitting or standing. Klein necks always play tremendously well, it’s easy to fret anywhere on the neck and intonation is superb. The voice is very unique, strong projection, superb clarity and a throaty growl. Somehow, even with this large body, Klein manages to harness the voice, keep it strong but not at all boomy. This one is Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce, both are Master Grade and exquisite We are extremely happy to offer you this rare preowned Steve Klein M.43. This one includes a Calton Flight Case and Highlander IP-2 dual source pickup system.

When this AJ Lucas came through our door, it was the first of its make that we had seen. Comprised mainly of Yew, Bearclaw Spruce and Wenge, this Pavilion Sweep model is an immediate favorite for picked Blues and other full-throttle playing styles, owing to its incredible responsiveness and thick, meaty trebles. The lightweight build and unique tonewoods make this one a surprisingly powerful instrument, brimming with energy and play. Even if you like to stick to first position most days, the descending Florentine cutaway provides nearly limitless possibilities if you decide to try that soulful acoustic solo you’ve been thinking about all this time…
