Greg Brandt built this, his 100th guitar, for renowned guitarist Michael Kudirka in 1997. To commemorate this milestone, Greg used master grade German Spruce and his most exquisite Brazilian Rosewood inherited from his mentor’s collection, these pieces being harvested approximately 100 years ago. Greg spent additional time and care putting this guitar together and it represents the very height of his craft with beautiful purfling around all the edges. Michael went on to play this instrument at the Portland International Guitar Competition, the USC Concerto Competition, and the American String Teachers Association Guitar Competition, winning 1st prize at each. Michael has played this instrument in cities around the world and it is easy to see why. With Greg’s skilled voicing and tonewood selection in combination with Michael’s playing, this guitar is one of the best sounding and playing Brandts we have ever encountered.

Some live recordings with this instrument can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/michael-kudirka/sets/assertions-reflections

Here we have a wonderful OM in Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood from Nick Kuckich at Franklin Guitars. Folks, this is an OM designed with great tunes in mind, across a variety of genres: Bluegrass licks are sharp and hang in the air, just as a delicate fingerstyle waltz opens up across all the registers. Responding equally easily to flatpicks as fingertips, the C profile neck is smooth like butter, and the narrower nut makes fretting effortless. Beautifully balanced with a quick response and plenty of midrange punch, this one is fully opened up and ready for the next generation to enjoy it’s musical gifts. Additionally, the Brazilian used is absolutely outstanding–the kind we just don’t see much anymore, with straight grain and stunning spider webbing. When we think of the definitive OM guitar, it’s clear this Franklin doesn’t fall far from the tree, and we fell in love with it within minutes.

Here at Dream Guitars we love guitars with a history of their own, and history is exactly what you’ll find in this brand new Thomas Rodriguez concert. This guitar pulls you in with the allure of a beautiful split-billet Cedar top and its striking three-piece Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (The rosewood being fifty plus year old, from the very same batch as his 100th guitar). The neck is Honduras mahogany from the early 60’s, purchased from an estate, and the nut, saddle, side dots, and tie block are all of fossilized walrus ivory. Tom’s signature asymmetrical lattice bracing gives the hand-split Cedar top’s voice a round, open clarity, allowing every note to be heard distinctly from those surrounding it. The boisterous bass and sweet trebles balance fantastically and we’re excited to offer this guitar we’re sure you’ll play and enjoy for many years to come.

This flamenco/classical hybrid by Thomas Rodriguez will have your ear in an instant. The prototype for Tom’s Marija Temo model, its Cedar top contributes a warmth to the tone just as the Brazilian Rosewood body reflects vibrations with bell-like clarity to the listener’s ear. This instrument is called a hybrid for a reason, and plays marvelously whether plucked with a delicate tirando or with a rapid picado. Try it out today – it’s sure to be a lifelong companion.

Here we have a Taylor 814ce in Sitka Spruce and East Indian Rosewood. Taylor is known for their consistent build quality and this instrument is no exception. Its silky Sitka top sings out bright trebles and backs them with big, bold basses whether picked, strummed or plucked. The Taylor Expression System electronics make this guitar stageworthy for any touring musician, and the smooth satin finished neck makes for hours of effortless playing.

This all custom Bill Moll 7 string archtop plays like all jazz guitars should. It is quick and articulate, yet smooth, with an echoing, pianistic voicing. The seventh string provides additional range and can be used to add a bass element to solos or an extra voice for larger chords. The artfully carved Spruce top is paired with a rippling, flamed Maple body in a pleasing amber color palate, tastefully accented by the all-Ebony bridge, tailpiece, pickguard, pickup cover, fingerboard and headstock. Now that you have everyone’s eyes, all you need is its custom, built-in Kent Armstrong pickup and you’re ready for the show.

This all-custom, 7-string Brandt is a real beauty, from the tasteful Florentine cutaway to the gorgeously quartered Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. The master grade Cedar top is warm and full, with especially rich and lush bass thanks to the lower, 7th string. But Brandt’s voicing and select Brazilian bring clarity and articulation to the trebles, letting them sing out as they are meant to be heard. This guitar is perfect for those nylon string players looking to add further range to their music or for those 7-string steel players looking to try their hand at a nylon string guitar. It also comes with a B-Band pickup installed, making this one a wise choice for the performing musician.

The National ResoRocket Wood Body is a modern version of the popular single cone resonator that offers a familiar 12 Fret neck but adds a cutaway for great access to the high registers. The All-Mahogany laminate body with it’s Ebony Fingerboard and bone nut ensure lots of great tone. The Pearloid headstock and ivoroid bindings give it a classic, vintage vibe that shows where it comes from. There’s nothing quite like a National for slide or fingerstyle blues!

*We offer an upgrade with the Hotplate pickup system on all National Single Cone Guitars. Just ask.

Ryohei Echizen is an exceptionally talented new builder from Yamanashi, Japan, who recently completed an apprenticeship with famed Canadian Master Luthier, Sergei de Jonge. Sergei obviously taught him well, because this gorgeous R1 cutaway model in Bearclaw European Spruce and stunning Ziricote is superb in every way. His attention to detail and level of craftsmanship are off the charts, and belies the length of his young career. This guitar truly checks all the boxes with several custom options such as an elevated fingerboard, soundport, arm bevel and ribrest, and flush cutaway. Upon even closer inspection, we’re treated to fine standard touches rarely found on many instruments, such as hemispherical fret ends, french polish finish, and durable Evo gold fret wire. What’s more, Ryohei has put even more energy into nailing down a remarkable voice in this guitar, with a beautifully balanced response across the strings, that’s rich in sparkling overtones and tight bass response. A perfect fingerstyle guitar that’s sure to go up in value.

Here we have an all-Maple single cone Hybrid model from National Resophonics. This little sunburst beauty packs a whallop, thanks to the legendary National single-cone voice, and complimented by the natural cutting tone of the unique, all-maple construction. An excellent choice for old-school Delta blues, ragtime, or swamp slide, this one will make sure you’re always heard in the mix.

Kevin Pederson has been building custom guitars since 1996 and has more recently stepped into the fine acoustic market. And boy are we glad he did! The beautifully quartered, chocolate East Indian Rosewood and Master Grade Bearclaw Sitka Spruce top are just the tip of the iceberg on this custom Modified SJ. It’s easy to see why this guitar made a stir at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival: the custom rosette design, gorgeous segmented spalted maple binding, tasteful carbon burst top, unique soundports, and custom inlay make this one a museum quality instrument. Add to that Kevin’s customized saddles and adjustable neck and you have a guitar that doesn’t need saddle adjustments. Any action changes can be made by moving the neck up or down, saving you from time consuming and frustrating saddle height adjustments. But when you play it, it gets even better. Position changes are a breeze thanks to the semi-hemispheric fret ends, and Kevin has adapted the Smallman-style bracing to give this one pianistic note separation and great tonal balance and clarity make this one a must have for any collector.

This amazing small body Eclipse was built by Bryan Galloup and is the very first of its kind! A 00 size guitar this beauty is crafted from stunningly figured Brazilian Rosewood and Master Grade Adirondack Spruce. With its smaller size and 12 fret neck joint, this one has an especially sweet, smooth tone that blossoms in the trebles. It's lovely for fingerstyle playing, but has great pop for strumming and picking. A great all around instrument.

Made for the 2013 Healdsburg Guitar Festival, this all Mango wood guitar is the latest brainchild and showpiece of luthier Jeffrey Yong. Internationally renowned for his innovative design features, Jeffrey has really pulled out all of the stops on this one. To begin, he chose beautifully figured mango for the back, sides and even the top, and the overall result is a unique, yet uniform aesthetic. The natural heritage of this instrument is further showcased by Yong’s inlaying of tree branch figures into the fingerboard, headstock, and back. However, the mango wood, it turns out, is more than just for show: this guitar possesses a sweet, balanced tone, with bass that smoothly blends and folds into itself as the trebles ring out clearly and distinctly. Additional features like the half-slotted headstock, scoop cutaway, smooth arm bevel, and soundport make this one as original as they come.

This Monkey Pod and Bearclaw Sitka guitar by Jeffrey Yong was made for the 2013 Healdsburg Guitar Festival. Jeffrey’s work is unmistakably individual and distinct from any angle: structurally, aesthetically, tonally, even his tonewood selection is unique among his contemporaries. Here we have a Micheletti Osprey “rigid rim” jumbo in Western Red Cedar and Padauk. The rigid rim is a patented design element that Rick has developed in an effort to stiffen the sides to aid in greater projection and improved treble response. Additionally, this makes for a very comfortable instrument with no sharp corners. Indeed, the Osprey has a great big voice with clearly defined trebles, thanks to the intense Padauk back and sides, and plenty of warmth and bass response courtesy of the Cedar top.
