This is why we are called Dream Guitars, because of instruments like this. Here we have a Henderson D-45 in Premium quality Adirondack (Red) Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood, that has been revoiced by the godfather of modern fingerstyle guitar himself Ervin Somogyi. This is an ultimate example of two worlds meeting in the realm of lutherie. This dreadnought maintains its flatpicking, and robust quality all the while preserving that power in the hands of a fingerstyle player. This instrument is truly one of a kind, and an absolute masterpiece at that, for the player and collector alike.

We recently lost Michael Keller, and the luthier community feels that loss keenly. So we’re delighted to have this 2014 Dreadnought in the shop to honor his memory and find a new home for it. Eight years old and waking up very nicely, the voice is open and expressive with great note separation. As a result, it’s at home with fingerpicking as well as of course flatpicking. Brazilian Rosewood back and sides pair with Adirondack Spruce on top, Abalone trim and snowflakes/diamonds position markers–and Michael upgraded this Dread with a soundport in the upper bout side. This has the effect of giving the player a bit more “me in the monitor,” making it easier to hear your tone when playing with those pesky other musicians in the group. When you want to go electric, the installed Fishman Matrix Natural pickup will take you there.

Through saddle at the bridge with plenty of meat left and great break angle for the strings; Abalone snowflakes, diamonds, and squares along the fretboard; Ivoroid bindings plus Waverly tuners. Oh, the sweets to be had with a well played and wide awake Martin D-28. This beau comes from 1954–70 years young today–and has seen lots of musical action since then. We always love to see a guitar that hasn’t hidden in the shadows, but instead has been out and about and making music. We’ve got Spruce on top, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with some nice spiderwebbing in the figure, and a number of solid repairs from years of use. The top has the marks to prove it, and the neck is worn in with an instantly familiar feel.
Ready to step into a vintage Martin that’s seen lots of music, and is ready for even more? Give us a shout to schedule a live demo, or take it home on trial.

A great example of an early ’50s Martin D-28 that’s been played a lot over the years, and is in great playing shape for many more to come. This one comes to us from the period when Martin was still using Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, by the 1950s they were using Sitka Spruce tops. There are some repairs, see our specs tabs for more details, but our repair staff have gone over this instrument from tuners to tail to confirm a clean bill of health. 1951 is a good year with this beauty in your hands.

A few years back, Martin ran a limited series of Golden Era models that were absolute powerhouses, and have since been followed by the established Authentic line (also great guitars!). Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with Adirondack Spruce top, herringbone trim and zigzag backstrip, soft V neck with proper prewar girth, and open back Waverly nickel tuners on a squared off headstock. Don Musser makes some of our favorite Dreadnoughts, and this latest model dressed in “The Tree”, and Shadetop Colorado Engelmann Spruce does not disappoint. Brazilian rosewood bindings, and a rather unique Ocelot Ear, headplate veneer. This instrument is as interesting and beautiful sonically as it is aesthetically. The superlative D-18 style guitar, if you’re seeking the ultimate Mahogany guitar look no further.

$11,235 Add to cartScale Length 25.5 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.25 in Woods Spruce - Engelmann, Mahogany - The Tree 1980 Olson Dreadnought, Indian Rosewood/Spruce
An extraordinary early gem from the legendary bench of Jim Olson—serial number 56, and the earliest Olson we’ve ever had the pleasure of offering here at Dream Guitars. This is a 1980 Olson Dreadnought built with Indian Rosewood back and sides paired with a Spruce top, and it’s a remarkable window into the genesis of one of the most sought-after modern luthiers in the world.
Already in this early work, you can see Jim experimenting with and refining the tonal architecture that would later define his signature sound: clarity, balance, and warmth, all housed in a traditional dreadnought frame. The Indian Rosewood delivers depth and power, while the Spruce top offers a quick, articulate response—qualities that have only improved with decades of play.
A Schertler Bluestick pickup has been installed, making this piece ready for the stage as well as the studio. And yes, this guitar has been played—and beautifully so. The honest play wear tells a story of music made and miles traveled, the kind of patina that speaks to a life well lived in sound. We love seeing instruments like this: well-loved, open, and alive.
For the collector, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a historically significant Olson, from a time before his waitlist stretched for years and his name became synonymous with bespoke tone. And for the player, it’s a chance to experience the roots of that Olson magic—warm, articulate, and undeniably musical.

$14,040 Add to cartScale Length 25.4 in Nut Width 1.688 in String Spacing 2.125 in Woods Spruce, Rosewood - Indian 2017 Preston Thompson DBA-JW Jake Workman, Shipwreck Brazilian/Adirondack Spruce
We’re huge fans of Preston Thompson Guitars over here, ditto for Jake Workman of Skaggs’ Kentucky Thunder fame, so when those two came together you know the result is going to be special. In 2017 Jake spec’d this model out with Thompson’s Shipwreck stash of Brazilian Rosewood (basically unavailable today) and some tight-grained Adirondack Spruce on top, then combined that with a hybrid of 21 and 18-style appointments. K&K Trinity dual source pickup system and EVO frets are the icing on the cake. Moreso, the PKT team built this beau with a slender play weight which makes the guitar feel extra alive and singing in your hands. Add to that a fast neck and great setup, and this PKT DBA-JW is one of those rare guitars that can immediately take you out of yourself to get lost in the music.

$5,200 Add to cartScale Length 25.4 in Nut Width 1.75 in String Spacing 2.188 in Woods Spruce, Maple - Flame Brand New Sonic Replica R, Mahogany/Italian Spruce
Brand new Sonic Replica R—Mahogany back and sides paired with Italian Spruce on top. The Sonic Replica Project is Galloup Studios’ deep dive into what makes vintage flattops so magical. Each Replica begins with a meticulously selected original—like this ’39 D-18—which is then reverse profiled using CT scanning to capture wood density, resonance patterns, and more. Every element, from top and back thickness to finish layers and deflection measurements, is accounted for. The goal? Not just to look the part, but to sound and feel like the real thing.
To date, Galloup Studios has profiled a 1937 D-18, a 1939 D-18, and a 1930 OM, with each Replica tagged with the original serial number followed by ‘SR’ to denote Sonic Replica. These aren’t just guitars—they’re rolling R&D, built to test and prove acoustic theories through fully functional instruments. A celebration of vintage tone with cutting-edge technique behind every note.
